Here’s a practical lock-in guide for Sept 1 – Dec 31

Sept 1- Dec 31.
Locked in.
I need to get my life in order.

Everybody is talking about the great lock in, no one is telling you how to go about it
3
1. Pick 1–3 goals only

Choose the things that would actually change how you feel about your life by December 31.

Example:

• Health: lose 15–20 lbs or build a consistent gym habit
• Money: save a specific amount or pay off a debt
• Career/skills: finish a project, get a promotion, or learn one high-value skill
• Personal: rebuild a relationship, create a morning/evening routine, or stop a bad habit

Write them down as specific outcomes, not vague wishes

e.g (“save $4,000” instead of “get better with money”).
4
2. Break each goal into monthly targets

September = foundation month. October–December = execution.

Example if the goal is fitness:
• Sept: establish the habit (4 workouts/week and protein target)
• Oct: increase intensity or add a second habit (sleep or steps)
• Nov: push for visible results
• Dec: maintain and lock in the identity (“I’m someone who trains”)
5
3. Build a simple daily structure

Most people fail because they have no default day. Use a basic skeleton:
• Morning: 60–90 min deep work or training (phone in another room)
• Midday: execute the most important task for one of your goals
• Evening: 10-minute review (what did I do today? what will I do tomorrow?)

Protect 2–3 blocks of focused time. Everything else is secondary.
6
4. Cut the noise

Decide now what you’re reducing or eliminating:
• Social media time (use app limits or delete during work blocks)
• Late nights
• People/activities that drain you
• “I’ll start Monday” thinking

The lock in works because you treat these 120 days as non-negotiable.
7
5. Track weekly, not daily perfection

Every Sunday, ask:
• Did I hit my minimums this week?
• What’s the one thing I need to fix next week?
• Am I closer to the December 31 version of myself?
Use a simple note, habit tracker, or spreadsheet. Consistency beats intensity.
8
6. Rules that actually work

• Start smaller than you think. One workout, one focused hour, one saved dollar is better than an unsustainable plan.
• Expect weeks 3–6 to feel boring. That’s when most people quit. Push through it.
• Identity first: act like the person who already has the result.
• Rest is part of the plan.

Burnout in November ruins December.
The remaining months are enough to create real momentum if you stay narrow and consistent.

Pick your 1–3 things tonight and start September 1 like it’s already decided.
