The fire currently ravaging Spokane, WA, was started in a homeless encampment.
With strong public support (Proposition 1 approved by 75% of voters), Conservative interests sought to address the problem by enacting 'camping restrictions' in and around the city to gain control over encampments and protect citizens. Still, the state Supreme Court later overruled them in a 6-2 decision in 2024.
This fire is therefore a direct result of letting liberals run things. Their policies have consequences, something we're all watching play out while the city burns.
