This is going to sound crazy.

But, one of the skills you must learn in the near future is how to cope with an increasingly illiterate society of emotionally dysregulated people.

If you continue to get frustrated on a daily basis over how everything seems dumb, stress is going to silently jeopardize your health.

Here’s how I try:

1. I don’t use social media for negativity.

It exacerbates all negative emotions.

2. If it happens online, it’s a sitcom.

There might be some truth to it but it is not the truth.

3. People are passionate about their emotions but it’s not actually built on a solid and consistent worldview.

Do not use logic as a solution.

You must use play.

Years ago.

I was in a grocery store with an ex and we were arguing about something and it was going absolutely nowhere.

Out of nowhere, I just suddenly started to play wrestle with her and we started cracking up while people watched.

When we stopped, we genuinely solved our argument and went home.

Never forgot that and genuinely think if you just remember to be silly and playful you’ll create beneficial conditions that aggressive logic won’t.

I wish I could take credit for it.

But, in Hook, Peter sits down to eat but is frustrated when he sees it’s a bunch of empty dishes.

He’s so annoyed, he gets in an argument with Rufio but can’t roast Rufio so Rufio belittles him.

Suddenly, Peter snaps and roasts Rufio back.

The Lost Boys sense a shift.

Peter roasts Rufio again and pretends to flick an empty spoon at him.

Suddenly, the feast appears.

And a Lost Boy says:

“You’re playing with us, Peter.”

You must use play.
