🇫🇷 Most first-time visitors experience Paris the wrong way.

They spend hours in crowds, wait in endless lines, and waste time walking between places that could’ve been planned much better.

If I were visiting Paris for the first time today, this is exactly how I’d do it: 🧵👇

2
DAY 1 — Don’t start with a checklist. Start with the city.

I’d do:

Notre-Dame → Sainte-Chapelle → Latin Quarter → Saint-Germain-des-Prés → Seine

Don’t rush.

Walk between places when you can.

Your first day should make you feel Paris, not exhaust you trying to conquer it.
3
DAY 2 — See the Eiffel Tower the right way.

Don’t just walk straight to the tower.

Start at Trocadéro, take in the view, then walk down toward the Eiffel Tower and continue through Champ de Mars.

And save the tower for after dark.

Paris changes completely when the lights come on. ✨

DAY 3 — Don’t try to “finish” the Louvre.

You won’t.

The Louvre is enormous, and trying to see everything can easily eat up half your day.

Instead, decide what you actually want to see before entering.

Pick your must-sees, see them properly, then leave.

You came to experience Paris—not just one museum.
5
DAY 4 — Montmartre deserves more than one photo.

Most tourists:

Sacré-Cœur → photo → leave.

Don’t.

Walk through Rue de l’Abreuvoir, explore the side streets, climb the little staircases and slow down.

Go early if you can.

Montmartre is at its best when you’re not following the crowd.
6
Don’t waste hours on Champs-Élysées.

See it. Walk it. Take the classic photo.

Then move on.

If I had limited time, I’d rather connect:

Arc de Triomphe → Champs-Élysées → Seine

with the rest of my day spent exploring actual neighborhoods.

Paris is much more than its famous monuments.

Where you stay can completely change your trip.

For a first visit, I’d prioritize location + easy metro access over saving a little money on a hotel far away.

Good areas to look at:

📍 Le Marais — central & lively
📍 Saint-Germain — classic & elegant
📍 Latin Quarter — lively & convenient
📍 Montmartre — charming & more bohemian

A few extra minutes of walking can be worth it.
8
And please don’t eat every meal next to a major tourist attraction.

Look for smaller boulangeries, cafés and bistros on side streets.

Things worth trying:

🥐 Croissant
🥖 Baguette
🍫 Pain au chocolat
🧅 French onion soup
🥩 Steak-frites
🍮 Crème brûlée

One of my favorite Paris moments?

Walking around with a fresh baguette from a local bakery.
9
Leave room for the Paris that isn’t on your itinerary.

Walk along the Seine at sunset.

Sit in Luxembourg Gardens.

Explore Le Marais without a destination.

Stop at a café because it looks good.

See Canal Saint-Martin.

Watch the city after dark.

Some of your best memories in Paris won’t come from checking a landmark off a list.

If I had to give one rule for a first trip to Paris:

Don’t try to see everything.

❌ Don’t spend your whole day in queues
❌ Don’t follow the exact same tourist route
❌ Don’t rush between 15 attractions
❌ Don’t judge Paris only by its landmarks

✅ Group places by neighborhood
✅ Walk whenever it makes sense
✅ Start early
✅ Explore after dark
✅ Leave room for the unexpected
11
Save this before your Paris trip. 🇫🇷

And send it to the person you’d explore Paris with.
