BitMart started to shut down in May🚨 Here’s what’s happened: Today...

Here’s what’s happened:
Today BitMart has officially announced it will shut down its trading platform.
The exchange says it’s due to operating conditions, the market environment, and a strategic shift.
- New registrations are suspended
- Crypto and fiat deposits are disabled
- New trading orders are no longer accepted
On August 26, all trading will stop.
The platform will officially shut down on January 31, 2027.
(Withdrawals remain available for now)
But back in May, a well-known thread accused BitMart of:
- Having a major funding shortfall
- Blocking withdrawals
- Refusing to publish Proof of Reserves
- Trading against profitable users
A few days later, BitMart replied.
The exchange said everything was operating normally.
It claimed only 239 accounts had been restricted because they were abusing trading rewards.
It also said a Proof of Reserves report would be released at the right time.
No full Proof of Reserves was ever published publicly before the shutdown announcement.
None of this proves BitMart was insolvent in that moment, for now.
But it does show why you should always look to custody risk.
If an exchange starts facing questions about withdrawals and reserves, those warnings should never be ignored.
Because by the time the shutdown becomes official it may already be too late.
