Right now, what @rapidoapp_ needs is to mandate an ethics and compliance course for its drivers to be eligible to register on the app, or to pass an exam on the same. For a regular passenger who agrees to go by meter, what happened today is bothering me a lot, as a woman in Pune.

So, my driver suddenly asked me to get off the auto, very rudely, in the middle of a highway, in between heavy showers, at Kharadi, with no shade nearby. All he said upon asking was that he HAS GOT some work to do, no further explanation. But his eyes and ears were on the road +
3
+ since I was picked up. Strange he suddenly got some errand to run out of nowhere. Even upon requesting to drop me off somewhere nearby with a shelter, I was told to get another auto and get off. I tried to make sense out of why this may have happened. Maybe I do. 👇

So, initially I had to cancel the first ride request I had made on the app that day, as I wasn't able to find my keys to lock my door. I thought it could take me at least 15-20 mins and this same guy accepted the ride and was 1 min away, so I cancelled his ride. Fortunately, +

+ I found the key just a min later, and rerequested for a ride, and this same guy accepted and came. Now why am I describing all this? On boarding the auto, I was rudely demanded an explanation as to why I had booked twice, that's when I explained the same whole situation to him.+

I'm not sure if he was convinced, but I'm kinda 50% sure this act of mine may have caused him to drop off a solo female passenger on highway, amidst heavy rain. He had seen I had no belongings, no umbrella, nothing to even cover my head. +

Would this act have bothered me if ai was in his place? Maybe. The human ego is weird and fragile. But then accepting the ride a second time, only to drop off a passenger two mins later in rain? My ethics say better. As long as I have lived in Pune, I have agreed to even go by +

+ meter without raising any complaints. But this incident was quite jarring. Not to mention that I wear specs and in such heavy rain, my specs became so watery that I couldn't even see the road properly. Thankfully, another @rapidoapp_ driver dropped me off safely after that. +

I really wish I didn't have to complain about someone who was just doing their job, but I really believe @rapidoapp_ drivers, in whom we entrust our safety for the duration of travel, needs to have better values and ethics as a human. What if it was a senior lady whom he left +

+ stranded? I often book an auto for my parents and ask them to board and just get off at dropping point. What if it had been them today? I really hope no one comes across this driver and has their day ruined, hence attaching the image. I couldn't even confront him on the spot +

+ thinking about my own safety on the road. I really hope @rapidoapp_ takes some action to avoid such incidents. @regards_rishi @sankaaravind
