It’s just not true. Taylor Swift bought a mansion in Westerly Rhode Island for a reason. The WASPs aren’t interested in “pop culture”— they are elitists. They patronize art you’ve never heard of. They go to the opera.

@Logo_Daedalus I think WASPs are mostly gone as a cultural force in the country too. There are ofc still powerful remnants but WASP is not even close to the dominant culture anymore and they have been slipping from the elite class as well.

WASP was never the “dominant” as in majority culture of America. The Scots Irish hill people are not WASPs. The WASP culture only dominates where it always already did— the Ivy League, secular civic society at the highest levels, & in the patronage of “high class european art.”

Go to an art auction at Sothesby’s and tell me WASPs no longer exist. I’ve been in the Harvard club in Manhattan— you aren’t allowed in. Just because you aren’t allowed in doesn’t mean nobody is.
