If you want to build stronger muscles, you have to break them down. That's just how the universe works. You can't do it sitting on the couch. You have to make the muscles sacrifice and suffer to get them bigger. That's just how it works. And it's the same thing with wisdom and courage. You can't gain courage by constantly just making yourself more and more comfortable...
If you want wisdom, then you have to go through things. You need that jacket that's two sizes too big. You have to have trouble. You have to have adversity in your life. You can't just read about it on the couch."
