“What did I just say about two of you talking or being alone with...

Taehyung groans, closing his eyes. Jungkook sighs, looking over at a frowning Namjoon.
“I'd remember if I ever paid attention to whatever you blabber about,” Jungkook gives the man a stiff smile.
Taehyung bites back a laugh and looks at Namjoon, “hyung, I am going. Can you calm down?”
“My apologies, your highness,” Jungkook gives a small bow, then he looks at Taehyung, “I'll see you-”
“After the wedding!” Namjoon almost drags Taehyung with him.
He smiles wide when he hears Taehyung giggle. The omega's voice floating to him. Jungkook shakes his head with a fond smile and turns away.
He returns to his room to see Dianna and Soobin are already there. With racks and racks of clothes they point at for him to try out for the wedding.
The day passes in a blur for Taehyung. Seokjin and Hoseok linger around him with too many clothes to try on. Too many jewelleries. There are people coming and going, asking him about his taste in things Taehyung never really paid enough attention to.
He is struggling to put on a robe when he looks over at Hoseok, “did you ask Chim what he wants for his wedding suit?”
“He is resting,” the shifter whispers while working, “I do not know what he'd like. That is not my responsibility,” he carefully picks another pin, “I'm sure Jungkook would take care of those details for him.”
Taehyung sneaks a glance at Hoseok who smiles at Dianna and his words get lost in his mind.
Taehyung eyes the necklaces while his face warms up, “maybe, this one?” he traces a diamond, three-tier necklace, “it'd look good on him.”
Dianna hums, “listen,” she hands over the necklace to a maid, “take this to the king's chamber. Tell him his luna chose this for him.”
Taehyung's breath catches in his chest. Jungkook's luna... he blows out a deep breath, trying to focus on whatever Dianna asks him next.
Taehyung knocks on the door three times. When no one answers, he enters anyway.
The room is dark, except for the open window. Jimin sits on the settee beside the window, looking outside with a shawl wrapped around him.
“It's dark in here,” Taehyung looks around, “why didn't you open all the windows?”
Taehyung walks closer, sitting beside the omega, “I dropped by to ask which suit you picked for the wedding.”
Jimin looks lost for a second before he seems to understand what Taehyung said, he chuckles, “Jin hyung said he'll take care of it all for me. I'd let him.”
Jimin looks at the window again, “this is my second wedding, Tae. The first one was in haste. I just took the vows and then got carried away to that kingdom,” his throat bobs, “I do not see why the second one will be any different. Also...” he closes his eyes, “people will talk if I dress up too much or try to look as glamorous as a new groom because they'll talk about how shameless I am. You know. I didn't want this wedding to be such a huge deal.”
Jimin squeezes his hand with a small smile, “you cannot stop gossip, Tae. It slips past your fingers like sand. Anyway,” he tries to smile wider, bring excitement in his voice, “tell me about your suit. What are you wearing? How are you feeling? Tell me everything.”
Taehyung hears the desperation in Jimin's voice to change the subject and so he follows.
Jungkook knocks on the door three times and Hoseok opens it. Jungkook walks past him without sparing him a glance.
Yoongi looks over at him, “what is it?”
Jungkook gestures for the maids to place all the trays near the king's feet, “I brought the gifts.”
“Gifts...?” Yoongi eyes the trays, “what gifts?”
Jungkook sighs, “reveal them.”
The maids pull off the clothes that hid the trays. Namjoon and Hoseok stare at them and Yoongi frowns harder.
“This is all the gold and silver,” Jungkook murmurs, “also, the treaty and that paper is for the lands you'll get for the wedding...”
Jungkook's jaw hardens, “no!” he balls his fists, “but, we are different.”
Yoongi arches a brow, “oh, so you think I need more lands or,” he scoffs, gesturing at the trays, “two trays of gold coins?” a laugh bubbles out of Yoongi, “is that your hyung's worth or something? I am confused.”
Yoongi rubs a hand down his face and shakes his head, “everything I own will be under my spouse's name. I do not need these 'gifts' for that,” he waves his hand, “take these away. I am not accepting such gifts. Thank you.”
Namjoon fumbles, “this is a custom!”
Yoongi looks at Namjoon, “well, I am not about to buy his hyung. What is wrong with you?”
“This is not about buying!” Namjoon throws his hands in frustration, “this is our tradition-”
“Which comes from a very wrong place,” Yoongi counters, “and you know it!”
Namjoon curses, “this is what I get for narrating what normally happens?! These are things you can keep for your spouse to use! As I said, gifts!”
Jungkook rolls his eyes, “I am giving my hyung to him. That's literally the biggest gift I can offer and I am. So...”
Yoongi shakes his head, “I don't need these things. I already have too big of a kingdom, and I certainly do not need two trays of gold. I spend more on my stables. Thank you.”
Jungkook looks at Namjoon, “and I also don't need those necklaces you sent. It feels like a rope tying around my throat, by the way.”
“I'm getting a headache,” Yoongi gets up, “I'll go for a walk.”
“I'll think about it,” Jungkook looks at the trays and sighs, “now I need to check out the guest list. Why do we have to invite so many people?!”
Yoongi shrugs, “Hoba and that's it,” he gives Jungkook a tight smile, “that's my guest list.”
Jungkook's jaw hardens, “you better be cordial to hyung during the wedding. I'll keep an eye on you.”
Yoongi scoffs, “if during your own wedding, your eyes linger on me, Jungkook,” he pats Jungkook's chest before walking past him, “that's on you.”
Jungkook puts a finger over Taehyung's lips with a twitch of his own, “I am here to give you something. Something,” he pulls it off of his wrist, “of yours I held onto for this long.”
Jungkook chuckles, putting it around Taehyung's neck, “your necklace that you forgot with me.”
Taehyung touches it, tracing the chain with his fingertips, “you... kept it?”
Jungkook nods, pulling back to look at the prince, “I did.”
Taehyung looks down at the necklace and back at the alpha, “then why are you returning it now?”
“Because now I don't need a necklace to feel close to you,” Jungkook leans in, lips against Taehyung's, “now you're to never leave my side.”
“If Namjoon sees us,” Taehyung says when Jungkook trails the kisses down his throat, “he will sit us down for a class on tradition and customs.”
Jungkook hums, nose rubbing over Taehyung's scent gland, “will you bring his name up tonight, too?” he pulls back when Taehyung chokes, “just tell me beforehand so the shock doesn't kill my...” he gestures downwards, enjoying the mortified look on Taehyung's face, “you know.”
They both turn to see Seokjin standing at the doorstep with an exasperated expression. The prince walks in and eyes them both.
“If you two want that night to come, you,” he slaps Jungkook's chest, “get out of here!” then he turns to Taehyung, “and you, go and take the bath. We need to start dressing you up. Come on.”
Seokjin makes a face at Jungkook, repeating his words in a raspy voice, “I can't wait to leave, either!” then he looks at Taehyung, “go now!”
Taehyung scurries away towards the bathroom with blush high on his cheeks and Jungkook leaves the room after making a face at an exasperated Seokjin.
The light blue hanbok fits Taehyung just right. His hair braided and tied with flowers wrapped around it. The prince wore layers of necklaces. Diamond studded in some. Some are with pearls. Some have rubies and emeralds.
The diamond earrings glow under the chandeliers when he comes to stand at the first step of the stairs, looking down at Jungkook among the others in the wedding ceremony.
He feels someone push him from behind and only then he steps forward. His reddish hanbok with gold thread works glimmer as he steps up to the stairs and holds out his hand.
“Do not just agree to go with him, Tae,” the omega's lips twitch with mirth, “ask for him to beg for your hand. Make him work for it.”
Soobin giggles, “also, you can ask for anything you want and he'll have to give you before you agree to walk down the pathway with him.”
Taehyung's gaze is quiet and full of adoration on him. The prince's lips curve with a small smile.
“If I hold your hand,” the prince murmurs in a soft voice, “will you promise to never let go?”
Jungkook's throat bobs, something warm bubbles in his chest, “I promise.”
Taehyung places his hand on top of Jungkook's with a small smile, “then, that's all I need.”
Taehyung risks a glance at him before looking ahead with a smile that he tries to hide, “I asked,” he squeezes their joined hands, “and, you just did.”
Taehyung risks a glance at him again and Jungkook's vision blurs. He is quick to look away with a breathy chuckle. Holding Taehyung's hand protectively in his.
The two of them take their seats as the priest instructs. Their sides touching as the ceremony starts.
They face each other and Jungkook takes Taehyung in. He squeezes Taehyung's hands in his, looks the omega in the eyes.
“I love you,” Jungkook says while the priest continues the vows, “I am in love with you.”
The priest continues in the background. The people around them are watching them. Jungkook watches Taehyung. Unable to look away.
Taehyung lets out a shuddering breath, “I do, too.”
It's so quiet, Jungkook almost misses it.
Taehyung ducks his head further, “you heard it.”
“Tae,” Jungkook begs almost, “what?”
Taehyung looks up at him, his eyes search Jungkook's face, “I love you, too.”
“God, you are so smitten.”
Jungkook looks over to see Dianna and Soobin. The two of them walked over to his side with their teasing smirks. Jungkook’s face heats up and he is clearing his throat.
Soobin rolls his eyes, “Yeonjun took the pup outside for a moment.”
Dianna sighs, “Hobi is just…” she makes a face, “acting strange about all this. I don’t know how to talk him out of it, so I told him off.”
He looks at Dianna, “what’s wrong with him?”
Dianna looks uncomfortable, “well…” then she looks at Taehyung and elbows Jungkook, “doesn’t he look beautiful?”
Taehyung’s cheeks redden, he averts his eyes with a small nod. Not saying anything. Jungkook reaches to take Taehyung’s hand in his, thumb caressing Taehyung’s knuckles. Taehyung bites onto his lower lip with a smile, looking away without a word.
When Jungkook finally manages to get out of his friends’ and guests’ clutch to retire for the night, he is exhausted. He rolls his eyes at his friends when they accompany him to his room. Once inside, he slams the door closed on their faces.
He winces when he sees the extravaganza of the room. There are too many flowers all over the floor and the bed. He cringes at the thought of the talks the people shared while decorating the room.
The door opens then.
“All I am saying is—” Namjoon’s voice is heard.
“Just don’t say it!” Seokjin glares at his husband, pats Taehyung’s back as the prince steps inside the room.
Taehyung looks around the room, resolutely ignoring Jungkook, “now this is…” he purses his lips.
“Too much, I know,” Jungkook clears his throat, unsure of what to do with himself, “let me clean up the bed. Wait.”
Taehyung glances at the bed and winces, “I… I’ll just change.”
He shouldn’t feel this nervous. What’s wrong with him?
He focuses on brushing off the petals so the bed is cleaned by the time Taehyung gets out. Wearing a cotton tunic and pajama. Jungkook turns to look at him when the prince comes closer.
Taehyung offers him a small smile, “what?” his voice comes out thin, “you are staring.”
Jungkook doesn’t have it in him to protest, he shrugs, “can you blame me?”
Jungkook steps closer, close enough so they are chest to chest, his hands come to rest on Taehyung’s hips, “still beautiful.”
Taehyung’s arms wrap around him, pulling him closer, “I do, too.”
It’s a comfortable silence after that. Taehyung inhales sharply when Jungkook picks him up, placing him on the bed with a sly smirk. Taehyung squints his eyes, throwing a pillow at Jungkook’s face.
A laugh bubbles out of Jungkook when he manages to dodge it and Taehyung pouts.
Taehyung leans back on his elbows as Jungkook comes to hover over him. Their eyes never wavering from each other’s.
It takes a moment for them. A moment where their eyes meet. They both search the answer to their hesitation and then Taehyung is lying fully on the bed, wrapping his arms around Jungkook’s neck to pull him in a kiss.
“You know...” Taehyung traces Jungkook's chest with his eyes still closed, “Jin hyung was saying how alone he will be back in the palace. So... I was thinking-”
“No,” Jungkook's arms wrap snugly around Taehyung's waist, he looks down at the omega's now widely open eyes, “no, you are not leaving my side. I refuse.”
Jungkook's nails dig into Taehyung's sides, earning a squeak from the prince, “who said I was giving one anyway? I am stating the fact. I'll send him all the support he needs, you are not leaving my side.” Then Jungkook frowns, “also, is this the after talk we are having? Very odd of a topic. I suggest something like asking each other if we enjoyed what we did or something like, if you'd want to go again.”
Taehyung scoffs, “no, it was alright. About going again,” he eyes the alpha, “can you though?”
A surprised shriek escapes Taehyng when Jungkook rolls them over with a curse, “I'll show you instead,” Jungkook says against his lips.
Taehyung returns to his room after bidding Yoongi and Jimin farewell. He feels gloomy. Already misses the two. He busies himself with arranging the boxes for Seokjin and Namjoon next. They leave that evening. With a teary Seokjin who asks them to take care of each other and a teary Namjoon who clings to Taehyung for as long as he could before leaving.
Taehyung feels Jungkook's arms wrap around him from the behind and he leans against the alpha, waving his brother and brother-in-law goodbye.
Jungkook makes a place for him to attend the court too, announcing to the ministers that the two of them will run the kingdom.
That is the only time Taehyung gets to meet the general public and the ministers. Otherwise, he is cooped up in their room with the alpha.
Taehyung literally has nothing to complain. That is...
Jungkook scoffs, nipping Taehyung's shoulder, “he had a proposal that he wouldn't take my no for.”
Taehyung arches a brow, still focused on the book, “what was it?”
Jungkook shrugs, wrapping his arms around Taehyung's waist, “he brought a treaty offer between our kingdoms. If I agree to marry his son.”
Taehyung's eyes pause on the page of the book.
“And what did you say to that?” Taehyung wonders in a barely composed voice.
“...Think about it?” Taehyung tilts his head, “think about what?”
“The marriage?” Jungkook arches a brow, “you know, the offer is alluring. His entire kingdom and the prince is quite beautiful,” he sighs, feigning thoughtfulness, “either that or there can be a war. I mean, if you ask me, the choice is pretty obvious, don't you think?”
Jungkook stares, “huh?”
Taehyung looks at him, “once you and your newlywed die in my hands, I will rule both the kingdoms, no?”
Jungkook blinks. His breath caught in his chest.
Jungkook chokes on his words when Taehyung grasps onto his shirt, pulling him closer so their noses almost touch.
“I will be very honest, Jungkook,” Taehyung's voice deepens, “and I will discuss this matter only this once, so listen to me carefully.”
Jungkook's face blooms with a serene smile, “I am scared, yes,” he breathes out a chuckle, “I am scared of how much I love you and how each day I fall for you a little more.”
“Good,” Taehyung captures Jungkook's lips for a kiss, “I will help you win it but don't you dare think about marrying someone else. Ever. You are mine.”
Jungkook moans into the kiss, closing his eyes, “he backed out. He doesn't want a war,” he looks at Taehyung with a playful smirk, “but I didn't know you would be this possessive over me.”
A shriek escapes him when Jungkook rolls them over. Coming to hover over Taehyung with a sly smirk.
“Is that so?” Jungkook looks down at a breathless Taehyung, “shall I remind you how good I am to you, my precious?”
A giggle bubbles out of him when Jungkook pinches his side, leaning in to capture his lips. Their smiles moulding into a kiss while Jungkook pulls the blanket over them both.
He plays with Jungkook's hand, smiles to himself when the flames ignite on the tips of Jungkook's fingers, swirling and mixing with the flow of water between Taehyung's fingers.
Their pup is quietly sleeping in the crib. Unaware of the world and the beautiful sunset.
Taehyung's lips twitch, a calm and peace surrounds him as he looks at their joined hands, “yet, here we are,” he glances over his shoulder, “coexisting. Peacefully and...”
“Lovingly,” Jungkook pecks his lips, “I love you, precious.”
Jungkook's cheeks heat up, the alpha still gets flustered when Taehyung adores him so openly. He rests his forehead against Taehyung's shoulder with a groan that has Taehyung laughing.
Taehyung leans back against the king's chest. Looks at the setting sun with his face glowing with a smile.
Taehyung closes his eyes, sending his gratitude to the universe for choosing Jungkook for him.
Jungkook closes his eyes too, his arms tightening around Taehyung as he murmurs the same words in his heart.
The two of them open their eyes to see the golden hour washing over them. As if granting their wishes before the sun goes to rest on their story.
For now...
