When Trump banned Huawei, the official reason he stated was "National security concerns".

But the actual reason was that Huawei was about to set global 5G standards and infrastructure rules.

If China controlled the next era of telecom, America's tech dominance would be over...

Let's understand it a little...

You don't ban your competitor from buying your products unless you're terrified they'll stop needing them.

If Chinese started having better telecom infra, it would shift the geopolitical balance of power & US wouldn't make the "rules" then.

But look at what happened next...

Instead of collapsing, Huawei doubled down on indie development.

Then in 2022, Biden banned export of advanced chips (14nm & below), semiconductor manufacturing equipment & prohibited American citizens from working for Chinese chip companies.

Biden thought this would cripple China's tech for a decade.

Instead, SMIC started producing 7nm chips using "obsolete" equipment.
Everything they put in Huawei Mate 60 Pro was homemade (without any outsider help).

SMIC is now mass-producing 5nm-class chips domestically.

This pattern repeats everywhere you look.

DeepSeek wiped $600 billion off Nvidia in a single day.

How? They built AI models rivaling GPT-4 for $6 million while OpenAI spent over $100 million (That's 68 times cheaper).

Then there's the manufacturing scale.

BYD's single factory covers 50 square miles; larger than San Francisco. It will produce over 1 million EVs annually.

Tesla's entire global production in 2023 was just 1.8 million vehicles.
One Chinese factory = 55% of Tesla's output.

Or think of the robots angle...

China operates 2.1 million factory robots.
Whereas America added 34,000 new robots in 2024.

China has more robots than America and Europe combined.

While America spent decades arguing about infrastructure, China built 48,000 kilometers of high-speed rail.

California's high-speed rail was supposed to be ready by 2020 for $33 billion (exploded to $106 billion today)

It's now 2025, and they haven't finished 164 miles.

China's high-speed rail network is twice the length of every other country's networks combined. It connects 97% of Chinese cities with populations over 500,000.

But America has zero true high-speed rail after 50 years of trying.

We're not competing with the same China that made our sneakers 20 years ago.

We're competing with a tech superpower that graduates twice as many engineers, operates millions of robots, and builds the best infrastructure.
