All this "Eddington discourse" & no one is talking about tribal sovereignty in the US being used to build data centers in the same way it was used to build casinos after the 70s-- they're talking about if poking fun at White Girls doing BLM Activism is ontologically evil lol

People are still reading it as a "black comedy about 2020" & not a WESTERN. It's a WESTERN. It's Cowboys & Injuns!

"Payday lenders saw tribal sovereign immunity as a shield behind which they could hide. If they could strike a deal with tribes to bring their payday lending business under the authority of the tribe, tribal sovereign immunity could protect their business’s actions from being subject to state laws. If a borrower were to complain that they were violating a state’s lending laws, the lenders could say, “You actually can’t touch us because we’re an arm of this tribe, which has sovereign immunity.”

With the combination of tribal sovereignty and the internet, lenders could find customers in states where their rates were illegal, but then claim immunity from many of that state’s regulations. In return for tribes’ sovereignty, lenders promised to share their revenues, employ tribal members, and boost economic growth for reservations."

The most cutting edge thing Aster does is depict the whole "environmental concerns" thing that Tribal Government like to bring up as a shakedown tactic, they use this to bargain for terms of development-- in exchange for kickbacks, they'll give the "Native American" seal of approval to the project. Native tribes in the US function as basically a government sanctioned mafia-- the rulers of the tribe are laundering money for cartels &c while their poor constituents languish.

There's this double consciousness-- the poor helpless native Americans, so pure, spiritual, nature etc-- but actually the "ruling class of native america" are ruthless casino gangster mafiosos.

Eddington is about how this divide between Eddington & Santa Lupe-- also obscures the class war going on. You have Joe Cross at odds with Butterfly when they represent the same thing & have the same fate. The Mayor & the Chief are also parallels-- the Chief is IN ON THE SOLIDGOLDMAGIKARP DEAL in the same way the Mayor was. This is not depicted, but one can easily extrapolate the parallel, & look at the Tribal Chief's face at the opening of the Data Center in the end. Someone should get a screenshot of that for me.

I believe Aster didn't depict this as openly as the rest, as it's more taboo than making fun of white BLM libtards-- "Wait... is he really saying the Native American Tribal Governments are... also corrupt? That's racist!"

You know who took a ton of free money during Covid? Tribal Governments. Where did that money end up? In their own pockets.

In the script of Eddington, in the ending, the masked "Antifa super soldier shooters" are supposed to be revealed to have bodies covered in Freemasonic tattoos

@Logo_Daedalus Not an expert on this subject but the Cherokee joined the Freemasons in huge numbers. John Ross was one.

The script is pretty different from the film-- no mention of "SOLIDGOLDMAGIKARP" (instead it's "5G Tower/Infrastructure") at all in the script-- but I note that the beginning of the script makes the central conceit apparent-- the border between Eddington & the Reservation.
