The inspiration for this thread for me came from the 2nd to last chapter, displaying the dynamic between Gaban and his son,and the massive rise and dips in power brought on as a result of massive emotional spikes and the love of a father

I think to understand this,we need to lay a precedent for what haki is in this first place. Most people's understanding of haki is limited to seeing it as a power source that is solely used to counter devil fruits,however it is a spiritual energy everyone has

As the story has gone on we have gone to understand this spiritual energy,which is essentially one's own spiritual essence,can be exerted in multiple forms,with its solid form being the most common usage,but a more liquid form being shown in the land of wano,which they call ryuo

We also understand that it exists in reserves and can be raised or affected by a variety of intrinsic factors,including genetics and ambition but also other extrinsic,including combat, pressure and most importantly,emotion

Haki,as essentially the essence of a person's existence being tied to emotions is not particularly surprising .what is interesting is how oda interplays this with the emotional connections formed through familial dynamics,particularly that of a father
