okay, I want people’s interpretations on this one (this is a reread).

what is the actual point it’s making?
what’s the root cause behind kasuga and nakamura’s issues?

What's the problem with Kasuga, for example? That he's a big pervert? So are lots of people; it doesn't have to be a problem. That he inflict that on Saeki and then develop a dependency on Nakamura? That's misogyny and then extortion.

What's Nakamura's problem; she sees life as boring and lifeless? She's depressed or she needs a maybe exciting career. I can understand a character like her, but it doesn't tell me what the story itself is commenting on with her.

It's not a story about misogyny. It's not a story about life under capitalism and how that's soul-draining. It's barely even a story about how everyday life is just boring because Kasuga was fine before Nakamura and is now after too, and he lives a boring, normal life.

Like, I'm reading up on why people think Nakamura hates life so much, and people are theorizing about mental illnesses and stuff. Okay... but what is the story saying about that? Obviously sucks for her, but what's the point?

I just feel like the story isn't actually about anything. Or at least, it doesn't have anything actually insightful to say about itself.
