In case you missed it, Canada's supposed most left-leaning party @NDP dropped a campaigner last week for rightfully comparing the ongoing genocide against Palestine to the Holocaust. They smeared her name & emboldened media to denigrate her for sex work. 1/

Notice that the NDP did not defame Jessica Wetz as an anti-Semite in classic Zionist fashion, but as "disrespectful" for comparing the Nakba to the Holocaust, speaking to the extent that respectability politics are weaponized to shut down anti-oppressive critiques in "Canada". 2/

You know what is actually not only disrespectful but genocidal? The NDP's decision to still exceptionalize the Holocaust like much of the Western world, because it saw the slaughter of White people. Aime Cesaire brilliantly called out this racist hypocrisy in 1950. 3/

Note that the word "Nakba" itself, which refers to the settler colonization of Palestine, was coined by the Israeli army in 1948 who translated it to "Holocaust" in Hebrew. 4/

@NDP I hesitated to take time to make this thread, mainly bc as @palithreads pointed out, it's likely not enough to turn people away from electoral politics. They will cling onto the NDP as their saviour no matter how many times it shows its true convictions & backstabs our people.
