The reason we know it isn't a false accusation is because both Christian and Muslim chroniclers state that that is what occurred.

As to the 'harsh laws' this is refering to the 28 Jew Laws of Erwig (680) which are revisions of the Laws of Sisebut (612) and Recceswinth (652).

Now what the jew doesn't bother to mention is that the Laws of Sisebut, Recceswinth and Erwig were all designed to combat the predominant jews role in the White slave trade in that era and the 'harsher' codes of Recceswinth and then Erwig are designed to combat jewish behaviour.
3
The contextual jewish behaviour to these laws is the jewish Revolt against Heraclius in Palestine from 602 to 628 as well as the ritual slaughter of Christians (mainly women and children) by jews at Mamilla Pool in 614 A.D. among other jewish anti-Christian atrocities of the era.
4
This is further added to with the context in regards to the White slave trade in that the primary customers of the jewish slave merchants were Muslims while the primary sources of such slaves were mainly from European Christian and Pagan populations (often Slavic/proto-Slavic).
5
So no the 'harsh laws' of the Visigoths didn't cause the jews to open the Gates of Toledo; the 'harsh laws' of the Visigoths were targeting and trying to deal with jewish behaviour. The laws were dealing with the behaviour that caused jews to open the Gates of Toledo.
6
So no the laws didn't cause the jews to open the Gates of Toledo but rather attempted to address (and failed) the reason why jews opened them in the first place.

In essence the Visigoths were far too nice to the jews and the jews simply betrayed and then murdered them.
7
Oh and then blamed the Visigoth's 'anti-Semitism' as to why the jews did what they did to them.

Sound familiar?

Because it should.
