You buy $300 cardigan of the type you've never worn before. You also go to game nights ($15/per) for a new boardgame. 5 friends urgently talk to you: "You seem to not believe this, but your behavior is weird. I think you're having a manic episode, please go to the doctor now."

Obviously, you have extended convos where they explain why these purchases are concerning. You agree you've never played this game + worn this cardigan before, but it seems like a no-brainer that these things are harmless and within your means. Almost no one agrees with you.

You go to the doctor. The doctor says you're def in trouble & should go on meds.

You explain again there's no concern about the cardigan and the game nights (and other totally normal things like drinking 1 cup of coffee in the morning) but *no one* in your life agrees anymore.

The cardigan disintegrated early & you went to the local Goodwill to drop it off. The normal way you went up to the counter and said "I'd like to donate this" made everyone at the store look scared.

The cops were called and you're in jail now. They say you broke the cardigan law

If you're married (or so deep into a relationship you may as well be), your partner is one of the people telling you something is badly wrong with your behavior.

Are you married-ish? Did you take the meds when the doctor said you should (before you went to jail)?
