#bkdk au where katsuki, an overworked office worker, was a regular...

Izuku put his hands together before bowing. "Thank you. See you again, Bakugou-san!"
/Anytime now./
And sure enough, this regular customer called Bakugou nodded curtly, the corners of his lips pulling a tiny smile. "Thanks."
/There it is./
Bakugou grabbed his bag of onigiri and left the store like every other night.
Izuku felt relief washed over himself, his shoulders felt a tad bit lighter.
The doorbell chimed.
"Welcome!"
It's been three months since Izuku started working at FamilyMart. His journey to working the night shift at the 24-hour convenience store was not a straightforward one.
Born and raised in a modest neighborhood, Izuku had always been a diligent and hardworking individual.
The medical bills piled up quickly, and Izuku had to make a difficult decision.
Taking on multiple part-time jobs, Izuku juggled his time between work and caring for his mother, his dreams of higher education temporarily set aside.
One such customer was a certain tall blond. Izuku noticed him early on, the man’s presence was a constant during the late hours.
Despite this, he always managed to give Izuku a small, tired smile, a gesture that Izuku found himself looking forward to every night.
Izuku's first night on the job was quiet, with only a few customers coming into the store. Around 10pm, the door chimed, and in walked a tall blond, looking every bit the exhausted office worker.
"Welcome!" Izuku greeted him with a polite nod.
As Izuku scanned the items, he glanced up and caught his weary eyes.
“Long day?” Izuku asked softly.
The blond simply nodded, managing a small, tired smile.
The second week into his job, Izuku started to notice the blond's routine. He always came in around the same time, bought the same items, and left with the same small smile.
One night, the blond approached the counter, Izuku placed an extra onigiri in his bag.
“It’s on the house,” Izuku said, smiling.
The blond looked surprised but didn’t argue. Instead, he gave a curt nod, a small smile followed by. “Thanks.”
One particularly rainy night, the blond entered the store looking more worn out than usual. His suit was slightly damp, and his hair clung to his forehead.
Izuku couldn’t help but feel concerned.
“Yeah,” the blond replied, sighing deeply. He rubbed his temples, trying to ease his headache.
Izuku handed him a small packet of aspirin along with his onigiri. “For the headache.”
The blond looked at the packet, then back at Izuku. “Thanks.”
Weeks passed and their interactions remained minimal but increasingly meaningful.
Izuku started preparing the blond's usual items before he even entered the store.
The blond always appreciated it with a nod and that familiar, small smile.
Izuku chuckled softly. “Yeah, I guess I am.”
One night, the blond walked into the store and noticed something different.
Izuku had added a small potted plant to the counter. It was a simple touch, but it made the place feel a bit more welcoming.
Izuku beamed. “Thanks! I thought it might brighten up the place.”
As more time passed, Izuku couldn't help but worry about whether the blond was getting enough proper nutrition.
The thought of the blond eating the same onigiri every night bothered him, especially now that he felt a deeper connection with him.
“Excuse me?”
“Yeah?” The blond responded, heading to the counter.
The blond stared at the bento, his eyes wide with surprise.
“B-but it's okay if you don’t want it-” Izuku began to stammer.
“Okay…” Izuku replied, a bit taken aback.
The blond looked at the bento, then back at Izuku. “Thanks.”
“You’re welcome,” Izuku responded, smiling softly.
“Hmm?” Izuku looked at the blond, puzzled.
“My name,” he clarified.
Izuku’s face lit up with a bright smile. He now knew the blond's name. “I’m Midoriya Izuku. Nice to know you, Bakugou-san!”
"Same here," the blond, whose name was Bakugou, paused. "Midoriya."
Bakugou smiled at Izuku twice that night.
For months, this silent routine continued, neither of them saying much, but an unspoken bond forming through shared glances and subtle smiles.
Until one week, Izuku switched his night shifts with Uraraka, working the day shifts instead.
“I wonder if he's eaten,” Izuku blurted out at dinner.
“Who's he?” Izuku's mother, Inko, asked.
“Uh, a friend!” Flustered, Izuku replied too fast for his own liking
“Mom!” Izuku rushed to Inko's side and held her hands in his.
Mirroring his mother's crying, Izuku shook his head. “Don't say that, mom. Don't feel sorry. It's my decision to take care of you. You will always come first to me. Everything else comes second.”
Gently, Izuku caressed his mother's hands. “No. If there's a next life, I would like to be your son again.”
Izuku almost dropped the plate he was washing. He felt blood rushing to his face. “Like I said, he's a friend.”
Izuku froze on the spot, as his mother's words sank in.
/What?/
“I'll be in my room, Izuku.” Inko patted Izuku's shoulder gently and left.
Even after tossing and turning for hours, Izuku couldn't fall asleep that night.
Next week couldn't come fast enough.
When Izuku returned to his night shift, he hoped to see Bakugou walk in, and sure enough, he did.
However, tonight was different. Instead of heading towards the usual onigiri section, Bakugou marched straight to the cashier counter, a slight frown on his face.
"Ah, good evening, Bakugou-san! I switched my night shift with Uraraka-san last week," Izuku explained, his tone gentle.
"Are you okay, Bakugou-san?" Izuku asked, his brows furrowing in concern.
Without missing a beat, Bakugou blurted out, "Do you wanna get hitched with me?"
"I said, do you wanna get hitched with me?" Bakugou repeated, his intense gaze unwavering, sending chills down Izuku's spine.
"Exactly," Bakugou affirmed, his tone unyielding.
/What is going on here?/
Izuku couldn't wrap this around his head.
They met every night, yes, but their minimal interactions were not even dating-worthy.
So, where did this sudden proposal even come from?
"We can get know each other later," Bakugou replied swiftly.
"You would know that I literally don't have time for dating. But if you want to, we can do that later too. Do you like me?"
Bakugou's directness left Izuku speechless.
“My bad. I got nervous. Do you like me?”
Izuku wanted to look away but couldn't. Not when Bakugou held their eye contact as if his heart would stop at once if he ever broke it.
"Yes.." Izuku admitted defeatedly
"So, that settles it then," Katsuki stated, as if the matter was already decided.
“You like me. That's good enough reason for us to marry.”
“Wait- I- I'm sorry but this is too sudden. Where did this idea even come from?" Izuku pressed, needing to understand.
“I don't even know, okay? All I know is that it drove me fucking nuts when I didn't see you for a whole week. I couldn't think straight at work. I couldn't breathe thinking I might not be able to see you ever again.”
“You're always there. A constant. You made me feel seen. You made me look forward to my mundane office life. So, I don't wanna lose the only constant that I could ever have in my life. I like you. I like you enough to marry you right here, right now.”
Bakugou pulled out a golden ring from his pocket, his eyes desperate.
Izuku's eyes widened at the sight. Bakugou was serious about it.
"Marry me, Midoriya."
Besides his mother, Bakugou was the only person Izuku cared about.
Izuku had never been in love before. Maybe this was the closest for him to being in love.
“Yes.” Bakugou nodded desperately.
“I have a sick mother at home to take care of.” Izuku still tried to talk Bakugou out of it.
“I'll take care of both you and your mother.”
Silence settled in.
".. Alright then," Izuku agreed, his voice soft but resolute. "If you're okay with me, Bakugou-san."
"Katsuki," Bakugou corrected, a rare, vulnerable smile gracing his lips.
"Hmm?" Izuku tilted his head, a small smile forming.
"My name's Katsuki."
Izuku's smile widened, warmth filling his eyes. "Well, Katsuki, I'll be in your care."
"Same here," Bakugou Katsuki nodded and slipped the ring he's holding on Izuku's ring finger, before a familiar small smile appeared. "Izuku."
Fin.

OH MY GOD I ACTUALLY FINISHED WRITING THIS IDEA OUT. I'M SO HAPPY THAT IT'S OUT FROM MY SYSTEM. NOW I CAN SLEEP IN PEACE. WISHING THIS AU BKDK OF MINE A VERY HAPPY UNCONVENTIONAL WEDDING 💒👨❤️👨🧡💚
Katsuki often found himself stuck in the same monotonous, repetitive routine, as well as overworked, as an office worker.
His days were filled with back-to-back meetings, endless paperwork, and the constant pressure to outperform his colleagues.
Each night, on his way home, he would stop by the nearest 24-hour convenience store to grab a quick bite to eat.
The store was always quiet, and the night-shift cashier, was a familiar, comforting presence.
He noticed it's a new staff member there but he was too exhausted to care much about anything other than getting his onigiri and heading home.
And the way the cashier's freckled face lit up with a smile stirred an odd feeling inside Katsuki's chest.
There was something soothing about Izuku’s presence, something that made the burdens of the day feel a little lighter.
Katsuki didn't mind staying back for work until late hours anymore.
When Izuku chuckled softly, Katsuki burned the melodious sound at the back of his mind.
“Yeah. I guess, I am.”
-
Until one day, Izuku wasn't there.
And Katsuki felt a knot in the pit of his stomach.
Katsuki’s week began like any other, marked by the usual grind of work and the relentless demands of his job.
Exhausted from the day’s tasks, he made his way to FamilyMart, expecting to see Izuku’s familiar face.
Katsuki gave a curt nod to the cashier, grabbing his usual onigiri.
He couldn’t help but notice that the routine exchange felt empty without Izuku’s gentle presence.
The second night, Katsuki’s disappointment turned into mild irritation.
He found himself missing Izuku’s friendly smile and the brief, comforting conversations.
As Katsuki paid for his onigiri for the night, he felt a pang of frustration. He hadn’t realized how much he looked forward to seeing Izuku until now.
By the third night, Katsuki’s restlessness grew. His work performance began to suffer as his mind kept drifting to thoughts of Izuku. He couldn’t focus, and his usual efficiency was noticeably absent.
“Is everything okay?” the female cashier at FamilyMart asked one night, concerned.
“I’m fine,” Katsuki replied curtly, grabbing his onigiri and leaving quickly.
On the fourth day, Katsuki acknowledged the truth: he missed Izuku.
It wasn’t just about the routine; it was about Izuku’s presence.
The realization hit him hard.
He's used to those brief interactions and without them, his days felt incomplete.
“When is Midoriya back on the night shift?” he asked the female cashier .
“He’ll be back next week.”
Katsuki nodded, feeling a strange mix of relief and anticipation.
As the week progressed, Katsuki found himself increasingly distracted. He caught himself daydreaming about Izuku, wondering what he was doing and how he was spending his days.
“You okay, Bakugou?” one of his colleagues asked during a break.
“Just tired,” Katsuki grumbled, unwilling to admit the real reason behind his distraction.
On the sixth day, Katsuki’s frustration reached its peak. He realized he couldn’t go on like this. The thought of not seeing Izuku again terrified him.
The week without Izuku had shown him just how much he had come to rely on those interactions.
That night, as he walked into the store, he didn’t bother with pleasantries.
“Tell Midoriya I’m looking for him,” he said to the other cashier before grabbing his onigiri and leaving.
It was clear to him now that Izuku had become someone important to him. The absence had highlighted just how much Izuku meant to him.
He paced around his apartment, considering his options. Dating felt too slow; he didn’t want to waste any more time.
His mind kept returning to the idea of marriage. It was unconventional, impulsive even, but it felt right.
He looked around his apartment and he could picture Izuku being in every corner.
Katsuki had always been decisive, and once he set his mind on something, he pursued it relentlessly.
The thought of proposing to Izuku seemed bold, but it was the only way he could think of to express the depth of his feelings and ensure they stayed together.
The next day, Katsuki wandered into a jewelry store in the afternoon, feeling somewhat out of his element but determined.
He browsed through the selection of rings, looking for something that felt right. He was drawn to rings that were simple yet elegant.
After much deliberation, Katsuki found a ring that caught his eye.
The ring Katsuki chose was a golden band with a modest, brilliant-cut emerald at its center.
The simplicity of the design perfectly captured the essence of Izuku - elegant, understated, and unique.
“Excellent choice, sir,” the storekeeper commented, smiling. “They'll love it.”
“God. I hope he would say yes,” Katsuki blurted out of desperation.
The stokekeeper chuckled. “Down bad?”
“Seems so.”
Finally, Monday night arrived. Katsuki walked into the convenience store, his heart pounding in his chest.
As soon as he saw Izuku at the counter, looking as cheerful as ever, a wave of relief washed over him.
Izuku looked taken aback. “Ah, good evening, Bakugou-san! I switched my night shift with Uraraka-san last week.”
Katsuki gripped the edge of the counter, exhaling deeply. “Thank goodness.”
Seeing the concern in Izuku’s eyes, Katsuki’s emotions spilled over.
The week without Izuku had made him realize just how important Izuku was to him, and he couldn’t waste any more time.
“Do you wanna get hitched with me?”
