He's right about this. The Western (especially Anglo) "Left" is really a form of elitist bourgeois socialism that would probably be better defined as "World Federalism" or "Globalism" -- & it isn't the same thing as "The Left" in terms of Marxist-Leninism, Stalinism, Maoism, Dengism, Xi Jinping Thought etc. The Anglo "Conservative" is actually just "Conserving World Federalism" -- so there's this unrecognized irony to someone like James Cameron defending "as a conservative" the sort of Fabian strategy of bourgeois revolutionary socialists against the perhaps naive consciousness of the "reactionary working class"-- George Galloway for instance is presented by the British "left" as a "far right extremist" because he's a "leftist" that isn't conserving the tradition of the Cambridge/Oxford bourgeois socialists.
On the contrary, as a trained revolutionary, I laugh at the gullible naivety of simpletons such as you. Blairism is Gramscian Eurocommunism. The Tories, under Cameron, adopted it( lwithout understanding it) in order to be allowed back into office.

The only problem with Peter is that instead of rejecting Trotskyism for Stalinism (which would have been based)-- he took a reactionary position of "stoic resignation" & basically his career now is just to doom-say and announce the imminent decline of the Empire-- which is also based tbh
