#taekookau where: Jungkook suggests he and Taehyung should go to...

“…” They both stayed silent, Taehyung looking at Jungkook, waiting for him to speak first.
“So all of sudden, you don’t wanna talk?” Taehyung asked.
“That’s not true.” Taehyung sighed. “And did we really come to marriage counselling for that? Cause I snapped at you once?”
“Alright, let’s start from the top. Jungkook, what makes you think everything you say annoys him?”
“That’s not true, I’m not rolling my eyes or sighing at him, it’s just work is a lot and sometimes I just…”
“You take it out on Jungkook?”
“I don’t mean to!” Taehyung tried to defend himself.
“I don’t care if you believe me or not. I have a full day of annoying people at work nagging me, you’re the only person who gets me, I’d never snap at you on purpose.”
“Well, you still did.”
“Then…then why have you never told me?”
“I don’t know cause…it’s weird to just bring that up out of nowhere.” He shrugged.
“Of course.” Jungkook scoffed.
“Well, I’m not sure, it’d be weird to keep track of that, wouldn’t it?”
“You could try now.” Their counsellor offered.
“Alright.” He sighed, turning to Jungkook. “I think your eyes are beautiful.”
“Thanks Tae.” He blushed.
“A-and your hair.” He quickly added more. “You started growing out your hair, it looks cute on you.”
“Can’t he say something nice about me?” Taehyung asked.
“No, you don’t.” He frowned and Jungkook smiled a bit, seeing how cute Taehyung got in just a second.
“I do but fine. I like the way your cheeks look like bread when you smile.”
“What kind of compliment is that?” He chuckled.
“Of course I remember, I was just joking!”
“Remember what?” The counsellor asked.
“Whatever.” He blushed, hiding his face.
“Do you always respond to his compliments like this?”
“Every time.” Jungkook answered before Taehyung did.
“Do you not care about Jungkook’s compliments?” The counsellor turned to Taehyung.
“Of course I do. I care.” He muttered. “It’s just embarrassing.”
“Why do you think that?”
“You get shy around me?” Jungkook looked up at him.
“See?“ Taehyung’s face got red as he turned away. “He looks at me with his big eyes and I feel like an idiot.”
“I thought you hated me now.” Taehyung smiled at the feeling of Jungkook’s hand on his.
“Don’t say that, I could never hate you.”
“Alright, we’re getting somewhere.” The counsellors smiled.
“Well he comes home at 7 and goes to the home office to work more and I go to bed at 10 so I see him 3 hours a day.” Jungkook explained.
“I have to work though.”
“The place goes to hell if I’m not there, they need me or who knows what will happen? You want a divorce just because I have a job and can’t give you my undivided attention anymore?”
“No wait, I didn’t…“ Taehyung felt the warmth of Jungkook’s hand on his disappear.
“Shit, why would I say that to him?” He held his head down, tears blocking his eye sight when he realized he snapped…again and almost made Jungkook cry.
“No, of course not, he’s the love of my life.”
“Well, have you tried to show him that? Don’t you think if he was the love of your life, you’d want to spend more time with him?”
“Then you’ll have to make a sacrifice, what makes you happier? Work or Jungkook?”
“Hey.” Jungkook cleared his throat as he walked back into the room, surprised when Taehyung pulled him closer and hugged him.
“I know.” Jungkook sighed, pulling away. “But, Tae…I wish sorry couldn’t fix all of this but it can’t. It’s not that easy.”
“How can I fix it?” Taehyung sighed.
“…Go back in time and be there for my birthday.”
“Not on purpose.” Taehyung quickly said. “I had a business trip and I was supposed to be back in time but my flight got delayed. I would never miss his birthday on purpose.”
“Jungkook-“
“Taehyung, it’s always important to put your husband first.”
“Taehyung, I work as well. We’re more than comfortable and you know that.”
“Yeah, just for the two of us.” He told him.
“What’re you talking about?”
“You’re saying I wouldn’t be a good dad?” Taehyung’s voice quieted down. He’s always had his heart set on being a father.
“Fine.”
“Fine what?”
“I’ll work 9-5 instead. Five days a week, that’s as far as I’ll go.”
“You’re being serious?” Jungkook asked.
“I’ve been working so much so guess I haven’t found much time for things that really matter. So yes, I’ll spend time with you.”
“And you’re not saying this just because the counsellor is here? This is a promise?“
“Promise.”
“Yeah, what’s that?”
“You used to treat me like I was your everything.”
“I promised I’d change.”
“All I can do is promise and show you that I mean it this time.”
He leaned his head against the window, subtly scooting away from him husband.
All those things Taehyung said to him today; the promises, the compliments…he hasn’t said things like that to Jungkook in years.
He clenched his seatbelt tight, feeling tears stream down his face as Taehyung pulled into their driveway.
“Do you still love me?”
Taehyung’s lips parted when his crying husband turned to him.
“But—“
“My beautiful baby.” Taehyung smiled brightly, pecking Jungkook’s lips. “I’ll always love you.”
