Thorstein Veblen attributes the Trust form of Financial Instrument to the Viking Slavery Corporation the Jomsviking. The Dane Law’s polar yoke remains upon the native celt-phoenicians of the sunset lands. The North oppresses the West.
2
You have two concepts of Right-- the Celtic Rights found in the Brehon Laws (identical to Mosaic Law & conception of the right to property & ownership over your means of production) & the Dane Law (rights of creditors to seize bondsmen as debt repayment)
3
You can follow this as far as you want-- the Dane Law merged with the Roman Law which also established Creditor Power as the hegemonic order over the body politic. The "Liberty" that Oligarchs describe is not the "Liberty" the Celts fought against Rome for.
4
Slavery also has different conceptions-- to lose one's liberty under the Brehon law meant the same thing, you could become a bondsman for a set period of time to pay off your debt-- but there was no expiration/jubilee for this debt under the Dane Law, it was an immutable debt.
5
Liberty & Slavery are always going to have a dependent relation-- as they are defined in opposition-- we have slavery in prisons, as every society deprives liberty as a punishment in order to maintain social order. You send a child to "time out"-- same idea.
6
The question is whether or not there is any forgiveness of debt-- if slaves are guaranteed liberty in any sense, with any sort of expiration date upon their "time out" from society-- that's the main question.
7
Indentured Servitude was the model of slavery in Celtic societies prior to being conquered by the Vikings. Indentured servitude is much older than "slavery" as we understand it now-- this later form of slavery is a slavery from which there is no escape, no mercy in the law.
8
You can see how easily the Dane Law & Roman Law coagulated in the Praetorian Guard / Varangian Guard-- which was composed of non-ethnic romans, germans & Nords/anglo-saxons/etc.
9
They called upon each other to govern their subjugated populations-- Anglo-Saxon Kings calling in Scandinavians to govern Celtic areas, Byzantine Romans calling in Anglo-Saxons to govern Slavs, etc. Not that different from flying in UChicago Neoliberals to put down the serfs
10
You feel a lot less bad extracting immutable blood debts from people if they aren't your people & you are only loyal to an authority that is alien to both of you. The Romans did this with tax collectors all the time.
11
You can begin to understand why King Arthur meant so much to the people (the serfs) of the West-- he was their last "Popular Monarch" who fought for the liberty of the people against the occupation of foreigners who would go on to enslave them.
12
The British Isles however get invaded by multiple different occupations-- Irish History's most ancient annal is called "The Book of Invasions" for this reason-- Anglo-Saxons suddenly start identifying with the Celts after the Norman Yoke etc.
13
That was back when "Class Consciousness" & "Ethnic Consciousness" were the same thing-- & classes were explicitly delineated by language for the same reason-- it was obvious to everyone what class/ethnos you belonged to.
14
This is why you have stuff like the Irish Republican Army identifying their struggle with the Palestinian Struggle, supporting Gaddafi etc. That's why downwardly mobile white Americans are identifying more with Islam & "civilizational enemies" of the ruling hegemony.
15
Currently-- we're importing a new "governing class" to mediate rent payments between the major oligarch clans & the subjugated population-- you can probably guess this by looking at the most wealthy group per capita in the US...
16
"He spends his entire life repaying his debts. This is dharma."
17
"In the Indic model, every human being who lives on earth, by virtue of being alive, and so having access to the world, is in debt to his family, culture and nature. There is no escape from the karmic cycle until all debts are repaid."
