The whole freakout over Freemasonry in the 20th century was lead by "ellis island minorities" who were just fundamentally alienated from the continuities of British history.

Nobody thought much of them until then-- Protestant Fraternal Societies were a normal part of British-American culture-- it's literally baked into the pie-- but in the late 20th century you have all these people who are just "weirded out" by it, because it's everywhere.

The very concept of "Society" derives from these Fraternal Societies.

The "Ellis Island" form of society is the Mafia-- which was considered a "conspiracy theory" for a very long time. These days the fear of "illuminati" freemasons is just anachronistic. The Freemasons are long gone, there's hardly any left.

They have been selling off their properties to stay afloat because they don't get new members. They run retirement homes and shit. Their books are all out in the public domain, none of it is secret.
