An existential moment for Tamil Brahmins - A thread.

Tamil Brahmins once had C. Rajagopalachari to represent their class interests. Somewhere during the emergency and later, they also looked up to Subramanian Swamy.
2
Much later, they were also proud of Ramaswamy Venkataraman when he became President of India.

Then they felt a connection with J Jayalalithaa even if she headed a party that identified itself as Dravidian.
3
And they of course loved to speak proudly and publicly about the Shankaracharya Mutt heads at least until Jayendra Saraswathi got arrested in Jayalalithaa's regime itself.

But then, there was always the dependable Cho Ramasamy who spoke and spewed their mind voice.
4
But in the last few years, they have only had S Ve Sekar, but he too went quiet after being ironically sidelined in BJP, a party that primarily works for Brahmin interests.
5
There is obviously Aandavar Kamal Hassan, but let's be honest, the community itself is acutely embarrassed about his cryptic politics and even more cryptic tweets.
6
So today all that the Tamil Brahmins have is, the one person they can pin their hopes to, their sole source of validation and assertion, their only possible Superhero is, well, Sumanth Raman.

What a fall it has been really.
7
Have all the other eligible Tamil Brahmins really left the country? Which makes me wonder, who is going to make our local 'Mylapore Files'. Would the moderate Mani Ratnam or extremist Shankar rise up to the occasion?
8
Or will Tamil Brahmins continue to live and leave in silent suffering? 😕
