2016 Academics not realizing that the Welsh "fables" were not made up shit it was the history of their people they'd preserved through centuries of calamities-- King Arthur was a real person. The British/Welsh were a naval superpower during the time of Roman Empire.

Why did Caesar invade Britain?

It's a question few people have an answer for-- Caesar said why himself in his Gallic Wars. The British funded the Gaulic tribes that Rome had trouble with-- because when they defeated them in Gaul, they fled back to Britain, resupplied, came back.
5
The Romans didn't teach the British anything-- they actually learned more from the British than vice-versa. Rome was a stagnant oligarchic rentier slave empire which ran on perpetual war & plunder-- all its "innovations" stolen from the Free Peoples surrounding them.
6
The Romans learned how to have a navy in the first place by being forced into it from the competition of Carthage-- who had already had advanced shipbuilding for centuries.
7
This is also true of the Athenians too-- these "aristocratic" oligarchic slave states that are presented as the summit of culture-- were anything but that-- they were stagnant decrepit & decaying, requiring perpetual "updates" in the from of their loathed "eastern innovations"

Most of the people Plato champions as wise were not Greeks-- Philosophy was brought to Greece by Phoenicians.
