Socialists struggle so hard to suggest that “national socialism” is not a form of “democratic socialism” & that “fascism” or our american “state-corporate philanthropy” aren’t ersatz forms of socialism. It’s a silly way of trying to attain “moral purity.”

We currently have “corporate socialism”— we have for over a century— there is no pure socialism or pure capitalism— the systems that exist are contingent mixtures of “capitalism” & “socialism”
3
Spengler denied the existence of “capitalism” & I think rightly considered “anglo-american capitalism” akin to “viking/pirate socialism”— it is probably easier to discuss things if “capitalism” was not considered “something other” than a form of socialism

The Saint Simonian proto-socialists envisioned 401ks & employer sponsored social services in “factory towns”— the Puritans created “commonwealths” long before the concept of “socialism” was coined.
