My understanding of Christianity under the conditions of Modernity are informed by Merezhkovsky, Solovyov, Florensky, & Fedorov.

Kojeve was deeply immersed in these sorts of authors & that's why no one can understand what he is really talking about in America (& even in France). This is why he held court with Jesuits like Gaston Fessard as well as people like Strauss, Schmitt, Bataille, Aron, etc.
3
The Silver Age of Russian letters is informed by the most avant-garde of Euro-American letters, the legacy German Idealism, as well as connection to the Oldest sect of Christianity. If you want Holistic accounts of the turn of the century-- you'll find it here.
4
People were reading these at the time-- Merezhkovsky was almost a Nobel prize winner-- he was hated in Russia but read widely outside of it. When he was compared to Tolstoy & Dostoevsky in Western press, the Russian public was so mad that he had to issue an apology.
5
The Emphasis on Solzhenitsyn as the "inheritor" of Tolstoy & Dostoevsky is just the hangover psyop of his use by Western Intelligence as agitprop. The gap between the age of Tolstoy & Solezhenitsyn is basically ignored in most western academia still.
6
Nabokov inherited this Silver Age tradition-- & I would consider Pynchon an inheritor of Nabokov-- the path from Andrei Bely's Petersburg to Pynchon's Gravity's Rainbow is a straight line. A full circle considering "Russian Symbolism" spawned from Poe's Philosophy of Composition.
7
Russian Literature is still understood as being of World Historical significance-- but I contend that this is still underrating it. There is not a single country with as deep a roster in literature in such a short period of time-- from the age of Napoleon to the age of Lenin.
8
It makes sense though-- if you think about it-- Russia was considered the "dark" feudal world-- & it sat back on its Byzantine heritage while keeping a close eye on the rest of the world. Its "great tsars" like Peter & Catherine were the ones who modernized their state.
9
This is where questions of ULTIMATE significance came to the forefront-- one has the Eternal World of Byzantine Feudalism tied to the OLDEST Church-- tied directly to GREEK & not LATIN-- & it is interpreting all of Modernity from this vantage point.
10
These are a people who considered the Pope the beginning of Modernity. The Roman centered Catholics wanted to translate the Bible into Latin-- & this was a "modernization" that the Orthodox simply said No to. & Greek was lost as a language in the West due to this, for centuries.
11
In an odd twist-- from our vantage-- the reintroduction of Greek due to the Islamic conquest of Constantinople-- is the foreground of OUR modernity-- but in a different sense-- this could be a RETURN to tradition-- that's our schizophrenia. The Russians understood this.
12
This Sophianist "Third Testament" disclosed in History in a Hegelian dialectic of the unfolding Trinity in World History is predicted by none other than William Blake. Of course-- this is not liked by *any* sect of Christianity as it existed then or now.
13
The Atlantic-Anglo is the Avant-Garde of History-- Russia is the Reactionary Defense-- the Alpha & the Omega of Modernity here-- so Continental Europe is the "translator" or "carrier" of this dialectic back & forth. It is only when we can embrace each other as brothers...
14
There is so much to this...
15
Uh like y'know "Zembla" in Nabokov's Pale Fire...
16
It's funny cuz in the Conspiracy Cosmology community recently "Tartaria" has become this ideal of a Golden Age-- it's also what Nabokov calls Russia in his alternate-world novel Ada (his best work). I think Americans have a deep longing for incorporating Russian wisdom.
17
The Mythological "Tartaria" is the shadow of our repression of incorporating Russia into our self-conceptions on a World Historical level-- the Iron Curtain fell, the "Cold War" ended (& they're trying to keep it going rn)-- & only now do people sense that they need to get it.
18
I personally felt this from a young age-- I was always absolutely fascinated by Russia-- in my podunk little town our maps still said USSR-- it's been an obsession of mine from a very young age-- & I think it has provided me a more holistic vantage of World History tbh.
19
I unironically think that the soundcloud rap boom with Lil Peep having cyrillic subtitles on his videos etc was a foretelling of this-- "Eurasianism" is still not right. It's more "Post-Europeanism" that would be proper-- but we're still fucked over by the British Empire smh.
20
I think late-millens/early-zoomers are more interested in understanding Russia than the older generations. This is good. I hope someday we can truly complete the system of German Idealism & reconnect Siberia with Alaska. An age of Peace-- the Atlantic center becoming the Pacific.
Lots of the "heretics" under Catholic dominion would have been graciously invited by the Orthodox-- Pelagius is an interesting case of this especially-- because Augustine has no hold over the Orthodox. shamelessorthodoxy.com/2016/03/14/pel…
24
Recently I have been thinking much of the "Celtic Orthodoxy" that existed prior to Catholic conquest via Saint Patrick (who was NOT the first christian in Ireland by a LONG shot). I truly think Orthodoxy would be better capable of coordinating Christendom than the Vatican.
25
So-- if I'm ever going to "convert" officially to anything-- it's Orthodoxy or nothing. Until we have a real Orthodoxy viable in the West, which can understand the developments of Christianity in time (as Merezhkovsky did)-- I will remain outside the folds-- in the desert.
26
Just imagine a sort of Cosmist Orthodoxy in which we are all brothers working for the immortality of all & the resurrection of all the dead to life while seeding life across the universe tho... Orthodox Futurism. Antiquity & Modernity wedded finally.
27
That's the real "Universal Homogenous State"-- if we understand Orthodox humility as when the Patriarch responded to Lutheran inquiries with the following:
28
This is why Kanye, despite being sucked into the Bourgeois Protestant Satanism to a degree-- in posting orthodox icons all day-- is truly prophetic.
