This is the one thing that forever handicaps the American Prot Fundie-- he is defeated by the fact that the Bible was composed within the context of larger religious transmissions & mytho/cosmological developments-- There is only ONE BOOK-- the Bible-- the rest is "pagan shit"

The fact that the names of God in the OT come from tons of other local religions-- this is not ok-- El? That was a Phoenician god. Asherah? The Wife of Yahweh? Not often mentioned anymore-- but also-- Phoenician. But this is "pagan fanfiction" not "philology"

It's simply not a serious discourse-- it's not interested in scholarship or serious reckoning with the historical record of the universal development of culture, literature, philosophy, etc-- it's only interested in extremely particular political issues.

I keep reading books-- sorry-- if this is what "damns me forever" & I should just "only read one book & only the one right way"-- then I'd rather go to hell-- your heaven is my hell.
