#bkdk before they start mending their relationship, katsuki...

before they start mending their relationship, katsuki observes izuku a lot. always at a safe distance, and never long enough to risk being caught, but his eyes never leave him. they never did, really, but now it's more painfully obvious to him how he's inexplicably
it's embarrassingly shocking for katsuki when he notices how other people flound around izuku so easily. they're free in their interest for him, genuine, careless, not tied back by the weight of a heavy past.
katsuki is alone.
yes, he has people around him too, but katsuki had learnt to think the worst of those who dared to come near him. he would later realize this time was different for him, sure, but right now his walls are still up and sturdy.
he wasn't selfish enough to not feel somewhat happy for izuku for having found people who loved him for who he was.
but it's also painful, to face the consequences of his actions and live watching what could have been if he
pushing everyone away has earn him a very lonesome life, but at least he's not hurting anyone anymore.
but he's not ready to say it out loud yet, still entrusting of himself to risk making promises. so for now, he'll keep watching from far afar.
because the truth is, more often than not, katsuki finds himself missing the only friend he ever had.
