Social anxiety is a low pregnenolone state.
In generalized anxiety, levels of pregnenolone sulfate and allopregnanolone, two key metabolites of pregnenolone, are as much as 70% lower than normal.

Most studies look at pregnenolone 50-500 mg. I think starting on the lower end there and seeing how it goes is your best bet.
If you're prone to estrogenic overload then definitely want to be more careful since it can convert to estrogen (though it is functionally anti-estrogen).
Otherwise, very very safe. I've taken up to 2g in periods of very high stress and felt nothing but level headed calmness.
