Hoo Pang Ron Pang Ron has played in 4 editions of Malaysia Open so far in his career, and each time with a different partner. This year's edition will be the first time he is playing with the same partner as in his previous appearance. Finally, some continuity in his career.

Lim Chiew Sien Chiew Sien was one of the youngest Malaysians to ever debut at Malaysia Open, making her first appearance at just 16 years old in 2011. Last year's edition was her XD debut at Malaysia Open, and this year's edition will be her first time playing exclusively in XD.
