Traditional writing is dead.

No traditional publisher is gonna kiss you on the tits & give a book deal with zero audience.

Digital Writing = Attention optimised

• Tell a reader the benefit of reading first
• Share the start & end of the story in the hook
• Think carefully about formatting

Once your writing gets engagement make sure to be data-backed:

• What gets lots of comments?
• What posts of yours get bookmarked?
• What short-form content can be transformed into long-form?

Don't guess what to write about or sell.

Act on the data.

You're not saying anything new online. No.

You're supposed to:

• Curate ideas
• Say the same old ideas in new ways
• Make ideas interesting/entertaining

Only geniuses come up with groundbreaking new theories. You & I aren't Einstein.

Write a list of your core ideas. Repeat them through your content many times.

Bad writing opens slowly.

It has a huge set up & take 3 hours to get to the point. It's full of disclaimers & "don't cancel me, please!"

Cole advises to open hard & fast so you don't lose the reader. Use these techniques:

𝟭𝟮. 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗔𝗜 𝗯𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻

AI will replace people who write sh*tty stuff.

Storytelling is key. AI can't tell real stories because it doesn't have a life & hasn't lived.

Cole uses this technique:

𝙏𝙝𝙚 "𝙢𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚" 𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙧.

Works like this:

Use a good hook to capture a person's attention. Put them in a different place in time

Examples:

• In 2002
• Last holidays I...
• When I was in high school

Teleporting people out of the present helps them escape the hell of news/politics/social media

Wrong.

No one is flawless. One area I disagree with Cole on is "niching down."

Choosing a niche is exhausting and you'll probably get it wrong.
