Nicolas Cole is overrated. His strategies don’t work. Is what envious losers say. But I took his courses & implemented his strategies & it upgraded my writing. Here are 10 powerful ideas I learned that you won’t find anywhere else online: --- 𝟭. 𝗗𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 $𝟭𝟬𝗠/𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 Most writers think it's impossible. Cole did it. How you think matters more than your skills, experience & connections. Be driven by obsession. Understand the 1-percenters. 1. Sales pages. They drive conversions 2. Sales psychology. Humans buy from humans. Lear to be more human. 3. Offers. Sell outcomes, not features 4. Offer stack. Offer multiple ways for someone to pay for your value. --- 𝟮. 𝗛𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘁 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 Cole started as a bodybuilder. He went through a massive transformation. The sets, reps & doing hard things psychology he learned in the gym he then applied to writing. He later built his main business around habit building Everyone else was selling commoditised information. --- 𝟯. 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 Traditional writing is dead. No traditional publisher is gonna kiss you on the tits & give a book deal with zero audience. Digital Writing = Attention optimised • Tell a reader the benefit of reading first • Share the start & end of the story in the hook • Think carefully about formatting Once your writing gets engagement make sure to be data-backed: • What gets lots of comments? • What posts of yours get bookmarked? • What short-form content can be transformed into long-form? Don't guess what to write about or sell. Act on the data. --- 𝟰. 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 Great non-fiction writing educates. But as we learn we come up with all the reasons why the lessons won't work. Cole advises to address objections as you go. Dare to tell people what their objections could be. In a live situation, teach an idea then get attendees to rip it apart. Takes guts. Most won't do it, but this is how you become a world-class leader & teacher. --- 𝟱. 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘂𝘁𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗯 Medium dot com ain't gonna make you rich. It won't even give you a salary. Selling words for dollars equals poverty. Cole advises 2 paths: 1. Turn your writing into a business 2. Become a ghostwriter Example: • Make $100 selling an article to a publication • Write for a leader & make $5k a month Similar workload but radically different paydays. --- 𝟲. 𝗥𝘂𝗻 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝘆 𝗼𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 Building an online empire is full of shiny objects: • Another tool • Another guru • Another podcast • Another course • Another Hormozi business p*rno Ask yourself "𝘐𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘺 𝘰𝘣𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵?" Deep down you know if it is. Do the hard thing and stop jumping from one shiny toy to the next. --- 𝟳. 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗼𝗻 Cole's net worth exploded when he launched a 5 day free educational course. Most people want to have a one-night stand with you. Educating first is how you date before the main event of marriage when someone buys. Stop acting like a pro$titute. --- 𝟴. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱 Many people think you send one email and someone buys your product/service. LOL. Cole shared his public data. His business sends an average of 20 emails to a person before they buy. Short-term thinking will rip your face off & murder your business. --- 𝟵. 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝘀𝗶𝘇𝗲 Cole doesn't guess. He knows his customer intimately. Here's an example. "10 𝘣𝘪𝘨𝘨𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘮𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘸𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘦" Distractions Over-editing Perfectionism Procrastination Self-confidence Generating ideas Impostor syndrome Writing consistently Finding time to write Loose feedback loops By knowing his target market's problems at a deep level he can solve real problems. 90% of businesses fail because they solve: 1. Fake problems 2. Nice to have problems Learning about a target audience requires 100s of Zoom calls & running many live events, like what Cole has done. These things don't scale which is why 99% don't do them. Do uns*xy things that don't scale. --- 𝟭𝟬. 𝗕𝗲 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗸𝗲𝘆 Cole: "𝘍𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 2-3 𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘴, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘪𝘯 1,000 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴." You're not saying anything new online. No. You're supposed to: • Curate ideas • Say the same old ideas in new ways • Make ideas interesting/entertaining Only geniuses come up with groundbreaking new theories. You & I aren't Einstein. Write a list of your core ideas. Repeat them through your content many times. --- 𝟭𝟭. 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗬𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗬𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗲 Bad writing opens slowly. It has a huge set up & take 3 hours to get to the point. It's full of disclaimers & "don't cancel me, please!" Cole advises to open hard & fast so you don't lose the reader. Use these techniques: --- 𝟭𝟮. 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗔𝗜 𝗯𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 AI will replace people who write sh*tty stuff. Storytelling is key. AI can't tell real stories because it doesn't have a life & hasn't lived. Cole uses this technique: 𝙏𝙝𝙚 "𝙢𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚" 𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙧. Works like this: Use a good hook to capture a person's attention. Put them in a different place in time Examples: • In 2002 • Last holidays I... • When I was in high school Teleporting people out of the present helps them escape the hell of news/politics/social media --- 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 Let's all worship Cole and suck him off, right? Wrong. No one is flawless. One area I disagree with Cole on is "niching down." Choosing a niche is exhausting and you'll probably get it wrong. We're not single-topic humans. My formula: You + Your Worldview = Niche Niche down with your lead magnets, newsletter, and paid offers.
