My take on the AI situation in q information/applied math: it looks like we are on the brink of a revolution that's comparable to the invention of telescopes for astronomy (credit to @martinmbauer for the analogy). We will no longer see things with our naked eye, but... 1/

@martinmbauer ... at any university there are entire departments (our friends in the humanities) that are not assessed by the economic output they produce, and still we value their thoughts and keep them around. Maybe science will become a little bit more like the humanities... End 4/4
