Starting in 1817, the third president of the United States ๐๐๐ค๐ข๐๐จ ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ง๐จ๐ค๐ฃ drafted plans to find and consecrate the ๐๐ฃ๐๐ซ๐๐ง๐จ๐๐ฉ๐ฎ ๐ค๐ ๐๐๐ง๐๐๐ฃ๐๐, which would later get legislative authorization in 1819 along with formal charters for the University that same year, and a few years later construction of the academic buildings and housing between the years of 1822 & 1825.
