Rather than constantly reminding them, using a tempo trainer provides them with external feedback as to whether they’re being effective at maintaining a high stroke rate.
If some swimmers are simply spinning through the water, I’ll give them a tempo trainer, use a slower stroke rate, and ask them to swim as fast as they can.
Same tool, different problem, same results.
By understanding the problem in front of us, and the options we have available, we can find solutions that make a difference.
