The sound of a wet mop echoed in the silent room as it wiped the floor clean.

A blonde-haired male, who was cleaning the floor, had his music on. Working while vibing to music is a perfect combination, isn't it?

He was so into the music that he didn't care about the sweat gathered on his forehead, droplets fighting among themselves to fall first and touch his honey-toned skin.

What time was it? Maybe evening, judging by the silence in the entire university.

Maybe some staff members were still there.

The door of the silent library opened and a black-haired male entered. His hands were filled with some books he had to arrange on a new shelf.

He stopped in his tracks when he saw the blonde-haired male still working.

He shook his head in disbelief.

Blond was overworking again, even after his shift had ended. He knew how hardworking the blond was, but he had someone waiting for him at home.

He walked towards the blond and put his hand on his shoulder to gain his attention.

"Taehyung!" The said male flinched at the sudden arrival in his silent empire. Taehyung turned around to face the silver-haired male.

"Oh, Hyungsik hyung, you scared me." He placed his hand on his chest over his heart to calm it and chuckled after seeing Hyungsik's done face.

"Taehyung, it's past 6pm. You should stop overworking and go home. Hanni must be waiting for you at home. It will be dark soon, go home," he worriedly said.

Then realization dawned upon Taehyung as he checked the time immediately. He cursed himself under his breath and smiled

at Hyungsik.

"I will go now. Umm Hyung, I took two books from the third row of B section. I will return them the day after tomorrow, after reading. Is that okay?" he asked. Even though he knew, Hyungsik won't say no to him.

"You're asking like it's the first time you're taking books from here. It's been years, Tae, stop being awkward," Hyungsik laughed lightly and patted Taehyung's shoulder.

"Yah! I'm not awkward. It's basic manners" Taehyung said in his defense. Which only made Hyungsik laugh.

"Yeah yeah. Now go and I have to lock the library too. Unlike you, my poor bones need rest and I have a wife at home to take care of. Inform me when you leave and tell Hanni her Sik uncle misses her," he left from there to arrange his books after getting a nod from Taehyung.

"It's almost done. I'm leaving after this," Taehyung replied, sighing after looking at the area which was still left.

The thought of Hana crossed his mind and a smile spread on his face.

His daughter.

His reason to work hard and never give up.

He pulled out his phone and dialed his best friend's number. His soulmate, his backbone. Jimin.

He daily thanked God for giving Jimin to him. If Jimin was not there, maybe he would have given up a long time ago.

"Hey mimi!"

"Tae! where are you? It's almost dark. Hanni is behaving fussy too. Come here soon," Jimin whined from the other side.

Taehyung chuckled at his misery.

Hana can give hard time too. It's adorable for him when she acts like this because with others, she is reserved.

It's only her close ones who get to see her real side.

"I'm leaving soon. I will bring dinner with me too. Today I got my paycheck, you know. So today's dinner is on me!!" he wiggled his waist, a little dance as he cheered.

"Oh God, I love you!! Come soon, I wil—" Jimin was cut when a loud sound of utensils falling echoed behind him.

"Oh no Hanni, not there baby!! Tae bye!" And the call ended.

Taehyung sighed and put his phone back in his pocket. Guess he had work at home too.

He was a little worried for Hana too. She was fussy nowadays because of the changing weather. She has sensitive skin and it irritates her because her skin itches a lot this time.

After putting the mop and bucket in the store room, he went back to the library to inform Hyungsik.

"HYUNG I'M LEAVING!" he shouted and collected the books he had put separately to take with him.

He looked down at the books he was holding and smiled. As he walked on the silent street of his university, he enjoyed the cold breeze tickling his skin.

This was his life.

Once he was known as a brilliant scholar of his school, but now he was just a worker in the university.

A worker.

He maintains the building of the university, cleans it and helps university staff with whatever help in work they needed. Life was indeed funny.

He also has some other part-time work too. He writes articles from home related to his university SNU, he was a beta reader for a publishing company, he owns a small flower shop with Jimin.

It was hard to manage things all at once but Jimin was there to manage things with him.

And still he was glad that he can bring books from the library with him and read them in the soft glow of his lamp in the shadow of night.

It was enough for him. All the money he earns was for his daughter. He will provide her everything he couldn't for himself.

As much as he tried to forget that man, he couldn't. How can he when his daughter was the exact copy of her father?

It's been 6 years. He should really move on from that man. It's not like he will meet him again.

He never believed in holding grudges. He never told anyone any bad thing about his past.

Even if it's against the person he once loved.

If anyone asked him to date someone, he used to avoid the topic by saying, 'I'm too busy to even bat an eye at anyone'. That's it.

He still has the wounds given by the person he once loved. The person who destroyed his everything.

The only good thing he got other than pain from that person was his daughter.

The most precious person in his life.

So he believed in keeping only good memories and bad memories were locked inside a box in his heart.

It was nighttime. A soft glow of blue light from a laptop screen emitted a circle around Taehyung.

The moonlight along with the screen light made his features sharp and clear. He shined like pearls that glow in the moonlight.

Hana was sleeping peacefully on top of Taehyung with her head nuzzled into his chest.

She had a weird habit of listening to Taehyung's heartbeat when she sleep.

Guess that's another trait she got from her father.

Just the difference was, she did it whenever she was fuzzy and in a low mood. And for her father...

It was like a habit.

Taehyung was writing another article for the university. They needed a new Art professor because Mrs. Park would get her retirement soon.

She's a nice lady, at least with him. She adores Taehyung the most. And our blonde never forgets to flex this in the university.

As soon as he finished typing the article, he mailed it to the Dean. They knew Taehyung's situation, so they grant him the flexible hours.

There was a soft knock on his bedroom door. He glanced up to find Jimin's head peeking inside his room.

He giggled when Jimin hit his shoulder on the door's handle and hissed. Typical clumsy Jimin behavior.

"What happened, Mimi?" he whispered.

Jimin glanced at Hana sleeping on Taehyung and whispered back, "I wanted to tell you something."

"We got an order of flowers for a company party. It's bigger than out previous orders. I guess it's an annual party. I need your help in arranging the color theme," Jimin threw his hands in the air, his eyes twinkling with excitement.

Taehyung nodded in amazement.

Now that's actually a big achievement for their small business.

"Wait outside. I'm coming in a minute".

He gently detached himself from Hana and put a teddy beside her, so she could hug it in her sleep.

Taehyung tip-toed his way out of his room. He very carefully, closed the

door behind him and sighed. Fussy Hana means, you need to be alert 24×7.

He joined Jimin on the couch, where all paper with details were scattered over the table and his laptop was displaying various designs.

"Tae, they want it to look classy. I was thinking lavender theme. What do you say?" he asked.

Taehyung thought for a moment before shaking his head in denial with a pout on his lips.

"Lavender is good but it's too common nowadays. Plus they want classy, right? Let's go with cream and brown monochromatic with black and golden balloons. It will give a good look which will match their blazers and stiff aura," he laughed as an image of an office party flashed

in his mind.

It looked more like a showoff instead of a annual party. He remembered visiting one with his father.

"PERF—" Jimin shouted but he was cut off by Taehyung who rushed over to him and covered his mouth with his palm.

"Shhh Hana is sleeping and I'm not interested in staying awake all night because of you," he glared at Jimin who smiled sheepishly and mouthed a 'sorry'.

They sat there deciding everything, not knowing what the upcoming days store for them.

It took two hours for them to finalize everything and bid goodnight to each other.
Taehyung once again found himself tip-toeing inside his room.

He halted in his steps only to find Hana sitting on the bed, sleepily rubbing her eyes.

Taehyung cursed under his breath.

"Mama," she called him with grabby hands. Taehyung cooed at her.

"Aww my baby, did I disturb your sleep? Come here, let Mama cuddle you," he went next to her and removed that teddy.

He lay down beside her and she immediately crawled on top of him, nuzzling into his chest.

He wrapped his arms around her and cuddled her on his chest, humming a lullaby so that she could drift back to sleep.

Within a few minutes, both of them slipped under the charms of sleep.

That was Taehyung's life. Simple and hardworking.

For him, his daughter and Jimin were enough. He had created his own little world where no one else was needed.

There was no place for anyone else.

Well, he was unaware of the storm that was coming his way. His past was going to knock on his door.

It had been two weeks since then.

He and Jimin got busy with the party preparation at home, and at the university, they bid Mrs Park a good farewell.

Taehyung would always remember her. He just hoped the new staff would be as good as the old ones.

Speaking of new staff, Taehyung was in the staff room, talking to the head of the dance and music department.

"Taehyung, new staff will arrive today. You and Eun, please divide into two groups and give them a tour of their departments. Explain to them the codes for the lockers

and staff room," he nodded in understanding.

"How many teachers will there be, Sir?" he questioned.

"About that, I have a list and I will hand it over to you. Make two copies of them and hand over one to Eun. We are expecting 9 new staff members.

2 in dance, 3 in music, an English professor and others for office work." The HOD explained, glancing at the list on his phone.

"All right sir," Taehyung bowed and left to continue his work.

His phone pinged with a notification, which he knew must be from the head.

He made his way to the library to print out the list. On his way, he found Eun glancing at their maths teacher.

"You know, you should confess," Eun flinched at the sudden voice.

"Kim Taehyung, you want me dead!" he glared at Taehyung. His poor heart couldn't take such shocks.

Taehyung shrugged his shoulders, "Maybe. That way, I'll be saved from your one-sided pining."

"Hah, says the one who still pines over his high school crush," Eun playfully taunted.

Taehyung didn't reply to that and started dragging him to the library. "I have a list with me. Hitler gave me the names of new staff. Get ready, we have to give a whole tour to them," he

said instead.

Taehyung was printing out the names, while Eun leaned on the desk. He was daydreaming about the maths professor.

"That hottie is looking extra hot in a navy blue shirt, you know," Taehyung shook his head in disappointment.

"I don't need to know how Namjoon hyung is looking from your eyes. Let my thoughts about hyung be holy," he grumbled.

The sound of paper printing out came and Taehyung moved to take them. He held the list in his hands and his eyes started roaming over the names, but Eun's next

sentence stopped him from reading further.

"I always wonder, why you never confessed to your crush?"

Taehyung's eyes stared at the distance ahead of him. He always shrugged it off whenever Eun asked him.

But today, he felt like letting Eun know.

"I... I did," he whispered.

Eun's head jerked in his direction with the speed of light. Taehyung thought he almost broke his neck in the process.

"YOU DID!?" he was shocked. Taehyung understood his sudden reaction.

"Shhh keep it low. We're in the library!" he scolded him in a low voice.

"Wait a damn minute. You're telling me, you did confess to your high school crush! And after that? what happened?" Even though there was

an ache in Taehyung's heart, he chuckled.

"What do you think? I'm still single for a reason," He said, without looking, as he folded the paper and handed one over to Eun.

Eun had his mouth wide open and Taehyung closed it by pushing his chin up.

Eun gulped.

"You... You're telling me someone dared to reject Kim Taehyung. KIM TAEHYUNG. You?" he questioned in disbelief.

Taehyung smiled, "I guess so."

"Oh man, if someone dared to reject you, a living eternal beauty, then I have no chance that my crush will accept me. Guess I need to move on with this bitter truth," He sighed dramatically.

And then something hit his mind, "Wait Tae," he ran behind Taehyung who made his way to

the staff room to collect files for new staff joining today.

"What now Eun? We're really packed today plus Rose is absent today. We have double work," He looked at the files and arranged them in order.

"I wanted to ask, you never said any bitter things about the person you liked. Always some good memories, why?"

Taehyung looked down at his hands.

"You can never find only happy memories Eun. Sad and painful memories are always there, somewhere in the corner. It's up to us what we choose. What we decide to remember," he took a deep breath before continuing.

"I did. In fact we talked a lot. I was my class representative," Taehyung said and Eun snickered.

"Of course you were Mr. Goody Two-Shoes. Mr. Perfect," He teased as he wiggled his eyebrows.

Taehyung pushed him aside playfully.
"I was not a goody two-shoes but anyway.
He was a new student between mid-terms. A transfer student I remember. My teacher asked me to give him a -

tour of the school and explain the schedule to him," As soon as he said that, the bell rang.

"Oh fuck me, my bad. We'll continue this one-sided love story of yours after lunch. I gotta go to the science department," Eun ran away from there.

He stood there. Because memories from the past flickered in front of his eyes like a movie reel.

He still remembered that day like it was just yesterday when he met Jungkook.

"Taehyung, this is your new classmate. His name is Jungkook. Give him a tour of our campus and explain to him our class schedules, okay?" She said, and Taehyung could only nod in response.

'A transfer student?' he guessed.

When he turned to face the boy, his breath hitched. He froze, his eyes widening a little.

The boy in front of him was breathtaking. He was unable to move his eyes from Jungkook.
He wanted to step forward and trace every inch of Jungkook's features with his fingertips.

He was so unreal.

"Hi Taehyung-ssi, I'm Jeon Jungkook," The boy politely bowed. Taehyung felt his heart beating faster.

His voice.

Oh God, it held the perfect thickness with a gentle touch of honey softness.

He found himself falling. Falling for the unknown man with starry doe-eyes.

The promise he made to himself that he would never fall for someone and would focus on studies only, was fading from his mind.

Embarrassment was what he felt at that moment. Too much to act normal.

"So what are your hobbies, Taehyung?" Jungkook asked him. His eyes roamed on Taehyung's face.

"Staying in the library?" Taehyung blurted out. He shut his eyes and bit his tongue.

'Nerd' was the last thing he wanted Jungkook to think of him.

"Nice hobby, I guess. Reading books has it's own charm. You guys create a different world of fiction within yourself." Did Jungkook praise him instead of making fun?

Oh man, talk about the standards he raised.

"Oh...t-thank you, I guess," Taehyung didn't know what else to say. In his entire school life, everyone just made fun of him by calling him nerd, teacher's pet and goody two shoes.

It was the first time when someone understood him.

"And your hobbies?" he asked.

"Mine?" Jungkook made a thinking face at that and frowned. Like he was debating to choose what was his hobby.

"You're looking like you have dozens of them and you can't choose your favorite," he commented.

"I guess you're easy to read," Taehyung shrugged his shoulders as he said that.

Jungkook just stared at him without saying anything. Maybe something was going in his mind but he didn't

"So your hobbies?" Taehyung asked again, looking at him in anticipation.

Jungkook sighed.

"I don't have anything specific. I just like to do everything, I guess. I try everything and whatever matches my vibe, I enjoy doing it. But if I have to choose, I'll go with

dance," there was a glint in Jungkook's eyes.

There was admiration, excitement in Jungkook's voice when he said dance. It made Taehyung curious.

"Dance? Why?"

It was Hyungsik.

"Why are you daydreaming in the middle of the corridor?" he asked.

Taehyung shook his head in denial, "I wasn't daydreaming. I was just thinking about something. You tell me, what happened?"

"Yeah, the Dean was calling you for something. I guess new staff arrived. So Mr. Tourist of this university, get back to work," Hyungsik laughed when

Taehyung gave a tired expression and pushed Taehyung in the Dean's office direction.

"But where is Eun?"

"He is already on his way there. Now go or they will send someone else to get you." Taehyung waved his hand in air and went ahead.

He sighed.

His mind again went to his first meeting with Jungkook. That was their first meeting.

He showed Jungkook the entire school and explained everything. He even showed him his hidden corner in the library.

His mini world.

Leaving his thoughts away for sometime, he let out a deep breath. He needed to be professional right now, his emotional self could wait.

When he reached the Dean's office, he straightened his clothes and smiled before knocking.

He heard a 'come in' from the Dean. He twisted the doorknob and slowly entered, saying, "Good Afternoon, Ma'am."

"Oh Taehyung, come. I was waiting for you. Gentlemen, this is Choi Eun and Kim Taehyung, our staff members, and they will give you a tour of the entire campus. And -

guys, meet your new staff," She signaled them towards the sofa which was behind them, on the other side of the office.

Taehyung and Eun turned around and bowed.

"Hello everyone, I'm Taehyu—" he stopped when his eyes landed on a person whom he never thought he would meet again.

He was frozen, his body refusing to move.

His heart hammered painfully against his ribs, each beat echoing in his ears.

The sight before him was too much to bear, his voice caught somewhere deep inside him, unable to break free.

Taehyung turned to Eun, his heart still thudding inside his chest. He struggled to get himself together. He secretly wiped the tear left from his eye.

"Let's go," he said. Taehyung averted his eyes from Jungkook to focus on others.

He gathered whatever courage he had left and managed to give a small smile to everyone present there.

He signaled them toward the door with his shaky hand and led their way.
