編集者側は、最初から原稿を “hokey” と見ており、自然科学者からの濃密な哲学的原稿として奇妙に感じたこと、哲学的推測と脚注を削るよう求めたこと、ソーカルが改訂に抵抗したこと、一時は「面倒すぎる原稿」と見なしたが、後に “Science Wars” 特集号の文脈で掲載することにしたこと等述べています

当時の Social Text は査読誌ではなかった、という証言も、この中にあります。 「non-refereed journal of political opinion and cultural analysis」の下り。
“Mystery Science Theater” が載ったのは、 ソーカルの暴露文の「次の号」でした。 何で同じ号に載せてくれなかったの？と文中で抗議してますね。
