A HUGE, overlooked deception by ‘Copyright’ Mohammed Hijab in his trainwreck debate w/ GodLogic: claiming the Qur'an led scholars to a globe Earth view. FALSE. The Qur'an-based consensus was of a FLAT-EARTH. The globe model came from astronomers, not the Qur'an. 🧵w/ receipts.
(1) Tafsir al-Jalalayn (1505 AD) confirms the Islamic scholarly consensus of the time: the Qur'an literally says the earth is flat. Those who held to a globe earth followed the opinions of astronomers, NOT the words of the Qur'an.
(2) Allah's 'revealed knowledge' of a FLAT EARTH was held to be SUPERIOR to the astronomers' ideas of a globe earth. 👀 Tafsir al-Khazin (1325 AD) 👇
(3) Ibn Attiyah (d. 1147) stated that both views are acceptable. However, the flat-earth view corresponds to the ACTUAL WORDS of the Qur'an and can be held 'without error'. He wrote that the way water lies on earth is physical proof of this. 😬
(4) Even earlier, Al-Mawardi (d. 1058) wrote that the Qur'an 'revealed' that the earth is flat. He wrote that habitations on earth's surface are physical proof of this.
(5) Flat-earth views persisted in Islamic scholarship into the 20th c. (!!). Prince Sultan bin Salman Al Saud, the first Arab Muslim in space (1985), helped debunk Ibn Baz's view. After the STS-51-G mission, he told Ibn Baz he personally saw the earth's orbit and rotation.
(6) Hijab downplays the Islamic scholarly tradition that the Qur'an calls the earth flat, that most scholars were in agreement with this, and that the globe-earth model was from astronomers. He has been doing this for years. As with all dawah, it misleads gullible Muslims.
Mohammed Hijab has been running this "Qur'an is sophisticated" cope for years. Receipts prove the exact opposite and show indications of audience manipulation. He has read the same books. Yet, the entirety of dawah is based upon cascading sets of falsehoods. Christ is King!✝️
