Usually I try to just ignore this type of stuff and get on with my day, but I recently switched from spotify to apple music for reasons™, and the desktop user interface is so comically poor that I have to make a thread highlighting what I came across in one session, strap in:

Off to a flying start with the search:

Clicking outside the search bar doesn't defocus it, which means that space bar doesn't work to pause / play music

Albums / playlists don't retain any "playing" state, so you see this janky icon flash from play -> pause -> play when you play them from search results

If you want to go to the currently playing song, artist, or playlist, there is no "now playing". There is only this tiny unclickable section up the top. Perhaps clicking the album art will take you there? no, that sends you straight to hell:

The actual way to get to the current song, artist or album is to click the 3 dots or right click, and select "go to current song" from 13 menu items (also notice the janky white flash of the previous song)

The tabs that say "new" and "radio" for some bizarre reason retain what you navigated to when they were last open, which means clicking those buttons often doesn't take you to new, or radio:

You would be forgiven for not being able to find this back button, especially on a reasonable size screen, the first few times I used this app I just assumed there was no back button:

Pressing the "previous track" button when you're on the first track of an album or playlist just erases your queue / playlist

The "Playing Next" view is just comically broken, icons randomly aligned to top / bottom, most of the time clicking the remove button does nothing, I can't believe they shipped this to be honest:

The "clear" button in "playing next" will often just leave a random number of tracks left over:

"History" is full of missing album artwork and duplicate tracks:

Flickering everywhere when you press buttons:

App crashed with an infinite loop as a result of me just clicking around randomly:

Radio page is a random combination of unclickable tiles with a huge central play button, clickable tiles with a bottom left play button, and clickable tiles with no play button:

Dragging one of the playlist tiles over the "all playlists" icon on the left hand side chugs to 10fps on a top end m4 max. When dropped, nothing happens:

Again, while just doing random interactions, I got a message down the bottom left that said "an error occurred"

Is the error clickable? It sure is, and when clicked it revealed this incredible software gore (and yes, the automatic update dialog got triggered by clicking on "An error occurred"

God only knows what this means:

Trying to remove the errors from that list went about as well as you'd expect:
