Comparison wise, first few players that came to mind were Zambrotta and Maicon, but I kinda drifted away from them. Reece James one I'm not 100% sure on, I see elements of young Reece James but for me Read is far from being as developed as a passer as Reece James was - just in terms of range and execution of hard to hit passes. Ricardo Pereira one would be better suited imo, but one obvious difference between them is how superb of a dribbler Pereira was and while Read is effective with the ball in his feet, can carry and beat the opponent, he's not that almost "winger-like" type of fullback. He's just much more balanced fullback that has great offensive skillset with great eye for a pass and is defensively sound while being great athlete. So comparison part was bit hard to pinpoint for me.

Givairo Read, physical profile 175cm explosive build and athleticism, "modern" player with decent frame for a fullback, acceptable pace, quick and nimble feet, engine and capacity to overlap, but also track back. From his physical profile I'd point out his nimbleness, he's agile and he uses this effectively with small quick turns to shield the ball away from defenders, evade the press and create enough separation.

Explosiveness I wouldn't call him the fastest player, but I wouldn't say he's slow either. His explosive power, acceleration over the first few steps is strong, but his top speed just lets him get by without hurting his overall play. This explosiveness in most cases helps him in 1v1 duels where he can react on time against dribblers, but also from stand still positions with the ball where he tends to use it to create space and get a cross in. Recovery pace, overlapping pace and tracking back are all solid, but I can imagine he could be hurt by extremely quick players like Barcola, Mbappe, etc. UEFA website has him clocked at 33.07 km/h, but through the years we've learned these speeds aren't all that reliable and are situational - not all players get the chance to do a full top speed sprint + having the wind on their side.

Defending Givairo Read is a very solid defender in general, he has decent understanding of space, opponents' movements, reads the game well and anticipates loose balls - but the best part of his defensive play imo is his aggressiveness in pressing. He gets out of his position, presses high, and is quite relentless in pressing - very suitable for modern high pressing sides like Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, etc. In 1v1's he's capable of keeping up with dribblers, has solid timing and tackling ability and is genuinely very successful against them - winning almost 70% in Eredivisie and about 65% in Europa League/CL against better opponents. Dueling wise, he's tenacious but his frame isn't the biggest so still loses a good chunk of duels, but usually he's able to get back or nick the ball away anyway. Here's his duel against Leao, who's probably the hardest matchup due to his size and strength.

Dribbling and ball carrying Read is above-average technically, but isn't as gifted or as smooth someone like Dani Alves or Cancelo. His first touch is decent, but occasionally he struggles with bit more complicated touches. Not a flashy dribbler, but can still beat the defender by bursting past him or squeezing through double teams with quick 1-2s (la croqueta-like moves). His ball carrying ability is also very solid, bit shorter strides, good control of the ball while running with no preference towards inside or outside.

Passing, crossing, finishing Read is surprisingly creative with very good vision and eye for a final ball. He doesn't shy away from playing through passes, hitting early crosses to the far post while also being excellent at hitting cutbacks on the overlap. On top of that he is also a decent finisher as he has a nice tendency to drift into space away from markers and can hit the ball confidently. Here's a short compilation of his passing, carrying and finishing.

Givairo Read is a well rounded, modern fullback. Capable defender, willing defender, with a fighter mentality who's well suited for any CL contending team. Suitable for high-pressing teams that need an athletic fullback who's offensively sound and can overlap and support your star winger (Olise, Saka, Yamal, etc.) While he has his overcommitment issues when pressing high or overlapping and leaving some space behind, his recovery pace and engine allow him to track back and help out defensively. He's one of the most promising young fullbacks in Europe, so I fully expect him to be on the radar of many top teams across the Europe.
