I can't believe for years we had folks argue in major publications that sports shouldn't be separated by sex, that androgens didn't make that big of a difference, etc. Like it or not, biology plays a big role in performance. You can't deny reality, you have to deal with it. x.com/LeorSapir/stat…

I don't care what your political leanings are, a core pieve of good thinking is acknowledging facts, regardless of if they confirm or deny your preferred narrative. We've got to go where the evidence demands...

When I wrote on this topic, I'd go back and forth with editors when I'd say definitive statements like "If we didn't separate by sex, a women would never come close to winning a medal in the 100 meters" And they'd be like, you can't say "never."

And I'm like....No...that's how big the performance boost there is. We can say never and be certain. I think a large part of the problem was that many in the writing/reporting class just didn't grasp the reality. If you were in the arena, it's clear as day...

I'm not sure how to get it across, sometimes I'd say, "If you gave a women all of the craziest steroids and performance enhancing drugs you could find, you'd still be short of the performance boost that a male gets from simply being male..." It's just reality.
