The Budget Phone That Doesnât Feel Budget â @cmfbynothing Phone 2 Pro. Iâve been using the CMF Phone 2 Pro for a while now since its launch, and I thought itâs finally time to sit down and talk about how itâs been holding up. Letâs break it down - design, cameras, software, performance, AI, battery life, and of course that tempting offer. Brief's On this Thread.
Design This is CMFâs thinnest phone to date at just 7.8 mm, and honestly, it feels almost weightless in the hand at 185 g, which is wild considering it packs a massive 5000 mAh battery. Itâs a clear step-up from the first-gen design, more refined and more premium, while still keeping the CMF character. The back isnât removable anymore (which explains how they managed to make it so slim), but the modular spirit lives on through accessories. The phone comes in four colors: Black, Light Green, CMFâs bold Orange, and White. What I like is how CMF has given each color its own texture and finish - the Black and Green have this frosted glass-like feel, the White has a sandstone panel finish, and the Orange goes all out with a metallic sheen. It looks and feels premium, definitely not âbudget.â The display is huge - 6.77 inches, and thereâs a reason behind that. For a lot of people in this price segment, the phone is their primary computer, and CMF built the Phone 2 Pro with that in mind. The bezels are even, the panel is AMOLED, and it gets crazy bright, up to 3000 nits. Even outdoors, you wonât struggle. Add in HDR10+, 120 Hz refresh rate, and a 1000 Hz touch response, and youâre looking at one of the best displays in its class!
Cameras Now letâs talk cameras. On paper, the Phone 2 Pro is rocking a triple-camera setup: 50 MP main sensor (biggest in its class, with TrueLens Engine 3.0 for better light and shadow balance) 8 MP ultrawide (119.5° FOV) 50 MP telephoto with 2x optical zoom and up to 20x digital zoom In real-world use, the main camera is excellent. It captures a ton of detail, the telephoto lens is surprisingly good, and the 20x zoom actually delivers usable shots (yes, that moon shot I posted was taken with this). The ultrawide though, Iâd say is average compared to the rest - not bad, but not on the same level as the main and telephoto. The 16 MP front camera is solid, with very detailed selfies, and Nothingâs tuning has improved a lot with updates. Video-wise, it does 4K at 30 FPS, with AI-powered stabilisation that makes handheld shots way better.

Software and Performance This is where CMF/Nothing shines. The software is smooth, minimal, and polished, it feels closer to the Phone 3 than any âbudgetâ phone Iâve tried. Running on Nothing OS 3.2 based on Android 15, the experience is super fluid. One thing I love about Nothing is how fast they squash bugs. Even during review programs, issues usually get patched by the very next update. Performance is handled by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro, paired with liquid cooling. Iâm not a heavy gamer, but the phone breezed through everything I threw at it, no heating issues, no lag, and the battery efficiency is great thanks to the 4nm processor.
AI and Essential Space AI is a big buzzword these days, but I really like how Nothing is approaching it. The Phone 2 Pro introduces Essential Space, which acts like your second memory. You can screenshot something or leave a voice note like âremind me to get these shoes,â and Essential Space will transcribe it, organize it, and remind you later - either as a notification or widget. Itâs genuinely useful. Iâm also hoping Essential Search (from the Phone 3) makes its way here, since global on-device search would be the perfect companion.
Battery With a Massive 5000 mAh battery, this thing is a champ. I was consistently getting close to two days of use on regular usage. Even better, despite the huge battery, the phone still feels feather-light. Charging is 33W fast charging, which gets you enough juice for a full day in just about 20 minutes. No silicon-carbon tech here, but CMF promises long-lasting health, retaining above 90% capacity even after 1200 charging cycles.

Verdict So, after about 4 months of use, hereâs my take: The CMF Phone 2 Pro nails the balance between price and premium. The design feels way more expensive than it is, the software is fluid, the cameras (especially the main and telephoto) punch above their weight, and the battery life is excellent. Of course, there are some misses - no OIS (which wouldâve elevated the camera further), mono speakers that sound just okay, and the accessories that CMF teased still havenât gone on sale yet. Given how modularity is a core CMF promise, this delay is a bit disappointing and something I hope @AkisEvangelidis and team fix soon. But even with those caveats, I can easily say this is one of the best launches Nothing has ever made in the budget space. If youâre considering it, keep an eye out for the upcoming @Flipkart Big Billion Days offer - the Phone 2 Pro is getting a crazy deal, and the Phone 3 will also see an unbeatable discount.
