Saving Private Ryan is the ultimate Boomer movie because after decades of Boomer films and songs painting war as hell and unnecessary, Spielberg came along with a film of absolute moral certainty, resetting their programming and priming Boomers in power to send young men to wars they themselves would never fight, while giving them the moral cover to bark endlessly about Churchill and Chamberlain in every conflict. It’s the WWII exception, since most war films are otherwise pure demoralization and propaganda about losers who should be ashamed of what their ancestors did. Take Das Boot, for example: I tried watching it today but quit after 30 minutes because it was so unrealistic and stupid to see U-boat officers openly trashing Hitler, Göring, and the high command in 1941. Or All Quiet on the Western Front, the famous anti-war tale remade three times, the latest in 2022 to great applause from the opinion-makers, while Storm of Steel has never once been adapted. It’s not hard to understand why... or why Boomer morality about war, war crimes, and nuclear weapons is so selective. x.com/redpilledhawk/…
