Have been talking to a scientist at one of the top universities in the country. He's a Trump supporter, and we've been arguing about whether the cuts were only targeting DEI or were wrecking science more generally. He was excited about what the administration was doing. This morning he told me that I was right, the cuts look completely arbitrary and will set back scientific research for years. The conservative movement in its current form is destined to alienate every intelligent or accomplished person inclined to support it. You can start out friendly, but if you observe events in the real world and have any ability to process information at all you will be disgusted by the Musk/Trump regime.
