Can someone explain to me why Wahhabis are offended by the term Wahhabi? Followers of Abu Hanifa are proud to be called Hanafi. Followers of Malik are proud to be called Maliki. Followers of al-Ashari and al-Maturidi are proud to be called Ashari and Maturidi. But for some reason, the followers of Ibn Abd al-Wahhab -- who they defend as "shaykh al-Islam" -- are offended if you call them Wahhabi. Strange, no?
Same thing with the Madkhalis, who are just a sub branch of Wahhabi. They follow and revere Rabi bin Hadi al-Madkhali, but call them Madkhali and they get angry. So bizarre.
