Windsurf makes coding insanely fun and fast! It's quickly becoming my favorite coding tool. And the new features are 🔥 - Web search - Autogenerated Memories - Code Execution Improvements Here is what's new:
🕸️ Web Search You can search the web in real-time! You can now parse and read over the latest information on the web. You can either paste a link or search using @ web.
🔍 Fetch docs instantly! I really like that you can also fetch the latest API docs automatically by providing any of your current docs. This feels very smooth.
🧩 Search for changes You can also use web search to retrieve the latest changelog for your favorite open-source libraries.
🧠 Autogenerated Memories Cascade can learn your patterns automatically and save them as persistent context across your chats. This is one of the more exciting features I have seen for AI code editors...
📖 Retrieve Memories As you work through your project, Cascade can create a new memory documenting your code architecture, code components, and design patterns. You can then reuse/retrieve these memories to instantly provide important context that you use frequently.
🔨 Create Memories You can create memories by explicitly prompting Cascade to do so. You also get to preview and manage the memories manually if you need to. This is huge for enhancing the developer experience.
🚀 Streamlining Execution Cascade can now run terminal commands using the underlying IDE shell. This improves the experience with stateful shell workflows like Python virtual environments. Commands like venv should now work as expected.
🪣 Devcontainer Extension The dev container extension was improved too. Below is a rundown of the improvements:
⚠️ Problems Tab Integration I like this feature a lot because you can just send over all the problems for Cascade to assess and resolve. Avoids all the back-and-forth copy-pasting.
💻 Updated UI The UI has also been updated. You can more easily diagnose and fix problems by interacting within the editor itself.
