I'm 38. At 30, I had $10K left in the bank after my eCommerce startup failed (I lost everything). Then, I discovered James Clear's work on habit-building, and made my first million at 33. 13 of his insights that transformed my life (and will do the same for you):

James' book Atomic Habits has sold 20M+ copies 3M+ people read his weekly newsletter. Before James wrote his famous book he: • Wrote on a blog for years • Made $250,000 each time he ran his habits workshop Net worth = $18M (2024)

1. “Not taking things personally is a superpower.” People who get easily offended scare the sh*t out of me They're often order takers or university degree people-pleasers Getting offended is a huge weakness Instead, get used to ignoring opinions Remember: critics secretly want what you have

2. “You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.” Goals are dreams that'll never happen. Smart people have systems to back up their goals so they take daily action. Anything but daily action is nothing more than ma$turbation.

3. "Life gets harder when you try to make it easy. Mastering your craft is hard, but having no skills is harder. Easy has a cost." Easy = Mediocrity It should be hard, uncomfortable & time-consuming. If not, you probably shouldn't do it. Chase obsession. Choose your hard.

4. "Most people need consistency more than they need intensity." 30 day sprints & short-term goals are overrated. You can't beat the person who shows up every day for 5 years. I've been writing online for 10 years. It put me in the top 1%, yet I'm an average writer.

5. "Just start. Start slow if you have to. Start small if you have to. Start privately if you have to." People who wait to get started waste their lives All you have is now. You could be dead tomorrow Start small & build your way up. A 5-minute habit can become an 8-hour habit (eventually)

6. "When making plans, think big. When making progress, think small." Big goals are overwhelming. The mental load is too much for most to handle. Go small today to eventually go big later.

7. "Working on a problem reduces the fear of it It’s hard to fear a problem when you are making progress on it—even if progress is imperfect & slow. Action relieves anxiety" Most people hate their lives & are stressed because they delay step 1 Stop thinking about a problem & start trying to fix it

8. "We often avoid taking action because we think "I need to learn more," but the best way to learn is often by taking action." We're drowning in information. Digital hoarding is at an all-time high. Action leads to self-discovery followed by wisdom.

9. "The ultimate productivity hack is saying no." Most of us have a calendar full of other people's obligations. Start saying no & your calendar is suddenly free. Invest the extra time in your obsession.
