Dear Twitter/X, I'm just gonna drop this here... It's a call to adventure for the curious โ€” in the form of ten (rather compelling) reasons to consider joining the next Nervous System Mastery cohort. Onwards! Jonny [MEGA-THREAD] ๐Ÿงต

#1/ Regain Autonomy Over Your Internal State Learning bottom-up practices to up-regulate (focus) or down-regulate (calm) your state as required, on demand. This is a game-changer for many people who had previously felt like victims of their stress response. These practices have many downstream health outcomes, from reduced anxiety and consistent focus to better sleep and greater confidence to take on more with life! As one former student, Dmitri put it: "One aha-moment for me was the differentiation between top-down vs. bottom-up processing. Never could I have thought that you can control your body/chemistry and, therefore, your thoughts... I have lost the fear of stress activation since I can now regulate it."

#2 / Quieten the Critical Voice in the Head It's a bold claim, but many students have had the experience (myself included) of critical self-talk completely disappearing after multiple sessions of somatic exploration (@the_wilderless shared a similar story during our recent podcast together) I'm serious: if you're someone who experiences negative self-talk from time to time, know that it 100% does not have to be this way. (I have working theories as to the mechanism for why this happens if anyone is curious)

#3 / Increase Your Capacity for Loving Conflict Something Iโ€™ve learned from personal experience and working with hundreds of clients is this: Many great relationships end โ€” not due to a lack of love โ€” but rather a lack of nervous system capacity. The superpowers that most couples lack are a) noticing a reactive state & b) self-regulating instead of attacking or shutting down. Then, from a place of grounded (and loving) presence, you can return and find a co-created solution instead of following a conditioned pattern and spiraling deeper into disconnection.

#4 / Ability to Focus without Stimulants We live in a weird culture that gets us perpetually hooked on various external substances, pills, or products. It doesn't have to be this way. There are simple (totally free) breathwork practices that reliably lead to just as much focus, without the caffeine crash or stimulant hangover.

#5 / Go Deeper than Talk Therapy Traditional therapy can be a helpful introduction for 'doing the work', however, if your exploration remains purely intellectual โ€” then odds are your results will be limited, and progress will be slow. @AlmostMedia is one of so many students who had been going to talk therapy for many years โ€” but only experienced true breakthroughs from exploring nervous system and somatic practices (that work with the root causes of our challenges) As a VC, she kindly recommends Nervous System Mastery to her portfolio of founders (and really anyone who will listen)

#6 / Learn how to Listen to Interoceptive Feedback Imagine if you had a wearable that beeped whenever you were about to make a shitty decision. You'd probably buy that right? It would be worth it's weight in gold. Well, good news, you do! It's attached to your head from the neck down, and you turn it on by cultivating interoception. This interoceptive practice is what former student @0xCaryn shared that after weeks of consistent 10-minutes a day โ€” felt like she was viewing her world in high definition.

#7 / Join a Community of Inwardly Curious Humans Genuine learning rarely happens in a vacuum but ought to be subject to cycles of feedback (there is strong scientific support for the benefits of having students learn and work in groups) Even when we know the right things to do โ€” learning together, sharing wins, insights and feedback exponentially accelerates the learning journey. There are IRL meetups, relational dojo practice, and opportunities to connect with over a thousand like-minded and inwardly curious fellow explorers. (It's common for students to come for the protocols, but stay for the community!)

#10/ Unlock the Cheat Codes for Life Few people (besides nerds like myself) wake up and say 'Gosh, I wish I had more nervous system capacity' But you'll discover that this work becomes an exponential amplifier for any personal development, work-related, or health goals that you care about. One former student @jonathancarson_ (who was no stranger to self-development) called Nervous System Mastery the single best investment he's made in his health and wellbeing. Keen to dive in?
