She was one of the best women in the world at her sport during the 2000s-'10s. But once you've already been the best... how do you live the rest of your life? I talked to Danica Patrick about "2nd mountains" & how she conquered her 1st. 7 lessons on high performance from her:

1. How do you handle self-doubt? When you have crazy goals, you have to fight crazy doubts. 3 tricks Danica uses: • Trust your past body of work • Ask - will this matter in 5 years? • If you try & fail, try differently next time

2. Failures Compound Mentally, one failure can lead to a spiral. How does Danica combat this? • Use incremental goal-setting as a tool to shift your mindset. • Create positive momentum to kill negative momentum.

3. Death Fears & 2nd Mountains Death Fear = the fear that motivates everything you do in your life 2nd Mountain = mountains are our life's greatest accomplishments. Some of us are crazy & lucky enough to pursue two. Here's Danica's take on hers:

4. Your Essence She asked me: "Do people ever have a generalization of what you're like?" Lowkey terrifying question. But the answer is absolutely yes. We each have a core essence. Fight it all you want, but it's not sustainable to be anyone other than you.

5. How to transition from Boss Mode Fights happen in transition. It's important to intentionally switch from racecar driver / CEO / decision-maker back to → girlfriend / daughter / friend (There's a pun about "shifting gears" here somewhere, but I'm gonna leave it alone.)

6. Success Comes with Hate My take: people who don't DO sh*t like to TALK sh*t. Danica's more psychological take here has to do with projection & triggers:

7. Where You Look is Where You Go Don't look behind you. Look at the goals out in front of you. Love this lesson from her dad:
