In 2014, I started writing online. 5 years later, I had zero traction. Here's how writing online works (and what it's like to now be in the top 1%):

Many writers will never make a dollar online. The ones who fail try to get paid by the word/article/hour. Or they want royalties. This is trading time for money which is how you stay broke. The writers who win start a business.

Other writers can have better ideas than you do. You can get jealous, or learn from them. I choose to learn from and respect them. Example:

Writing alone is a terrible idea. Trial and error doesn't work either. You'll get frustrated and give up. I did this for 5 years. It's a miracle I was dumb enough to keep going and finally join a mastermind. Don't make the same mistake as me. Join groups of writers.

You'll get humbled a lot. I've been accidentally banned from LinkedIn 8 times. Each time I have to battle to get my account back. If you can't deal with setbacks, then you shouldn't write online. Writing is hard, that's why it's deeply rewarding.

People may give you sh*t But haters will always hate. They want what you have. They're jealous. Don't let them stop you. No. Let them inspire you.

You focus on going viral at the start. Later on you care more about reaching the RIGHT people instead of how many people.

Writing produces deep flow states. That helps you process ideas and events in a way the average person doesn't. So you seem smarter than you are...and get more opportunities as a result. Flow is spectacular. Writing automates it.

Platforms change over time You can complain/blame or just move on Platforms love to silently engage in censorship too Twitter/LinkedIn/Medium have all been guilty in the past They do it under the guise of doing good. It's not evil, it's just ignoring our right to free speech

It's long hours to get momentum. But writing is an obsession. If you don't have anything to say or you don't want to start a movement around an idea, don't write. Do something else.

Writing helps you make some incredible friends. This is my mate Todd Brison. He later became my business partner & we've never met each other in person after almost 5 years.

Ideas have to stand out to get read. You'll need to at times be: – Semi-polarizing – Semi-controversial If you think this is clickbait, then give up and quit.

The money from writing lets you travel. The adventures give you more to write about.

Writing can help you pop out a baby too (Not s*x education) And every time you sit down to write you can make it a letter or lesson for your son or daughter. What a beautiful legacy that is.

Wild stuff will happen that you can never predict. • I made a few million dollars directly from writing • I got offered a book deal from a major publisher • I met my heroes like Tony Robbins Yet I'm not special. Why not you?

A high school certificate is enough. I have no degree. And I'm not an expert. The need for qualifications is just imposter syndrome in disguise. The internet doesn't give a sh*t as long as you have something to say and some stories.

Final Thought I have no idea why you wouldn't write online. It's one of the best feelings in the world. Writing is the basis of the entire internet. It makes you a magnet for opportunities. WRITE.
