Hustle culture is the worst disease of the 21st century. The antidote? Autopreneurship. Here's how to use autopreneurship to get ahead of 99% of people (in 2024):

To set the scene: Over the past 9 years, I’ve reduced the hours I work at my company, Herb, from 60 hours a week to 1 hour a month. Below is what a week in my life looks like now - don't see any 16-hour work days, right?

It's because I've modeled my life around autopreneurship: the art of creating businesses that run on autopilot and reclaiming autonomy to live life how I want. Autopreneurs are architects of their lives - they control the 4 Ws:

Working When they want, Where they want, with Whom they want, and on What they want. They have an uncompromising commitment to live Every Day Retirement: a life they'd never want to retire from. Here's how to do it:

Whole Body Yes When thinking about any opportunity, if your heart, head, and gut say "yes", then it's a "yes." But when even one is a "no"... Say "no." Maintain conviction: you WILL find another opportunity where your Whole Body says Yes.

Complete Your Ikigai To find a monetizable passion: Draw 4 concentric circles on a piece of paper and write down 3 points each of what you love to do, you're good at, the world needs, and what you can be paid for. Lasting fulfillment hides in the intersection of these four.

The 80/20 System 80% of everything comes from 20% of the work. Make this thinking second nature and apply infinite leverage to your life. 20% of clients lead to 80% of sales. 20% of habits lead to 80% of success. And so on. Always find the 20%. It's your ticket to freedom.

These are the foundations of autopreneurship. They're the mental reframes you need to escape the chains of career convention. Now, here are some practical steps to implement autopreneurship into your everyday life:

No Morning Meetings The average employee wastes 2-5 hours per day in meetings. They drain creative energy and derail deep work. Instead, make Loom your default: record your screen, demo anything and share the link with key stakeholders. It's the portal to an async culture.

Schedule Deep Work Research has found that executives who operate in a "flow" state are 5x more productive than in their non-flow state. The best bit? With deep work, you'll find yourself working 50% of what you were before. Sprint. Rest. Repeat. Like a lion, not a cow.

Daily Exercise, Movement and Breaks Too many founders neglect their physical well-being. I did too until I realized every hour I invest in my body reaps 2 hours of increased productivity back. Your health's not a burden: it's your powerhouse.

Time For Leveling Up The world's most successful people are voracious learners. So, whatever happens, I always find time for 10 pages a day. Because the world's not stagnant: you need to consistently absorb and adapt. The best investment you can make is always yourself.
